high blood pressure sucks. And I can't go back on my dyazide for 2more weeks because I have to get my aldosterone re-checked as that could be causing it. And the endocrinologist said there HAD to be a secondary issue for someone my age to suddenly have uncontrolled high bp. 1 verapamil a day isn't enough, I have to take 2....which makes me dizzy and light headed but does keep my bp in a normal range for about 16-18hrs a day. It's just those other 6 that bug me---166/103? come on! And now the verapamil is making me swell.....a full size bigger!

thanks, I'm over it now. It was just a fleeting moment of me grrrr'ing at the blood pressure monitor for insisting my bp was up again. I only have 2 more weeks on the craptacular new meds and then I can be switched to a good one that works!

Yucky!
My BFF has high BP as well. It is controlled finally but took awhile. Her DH just got the big V since she can't take BCPs cause of her BP.
Heres to hoping the next 2 weeks fly by!

Have you ever had a kindey ultrasound and kindney fuction labs ran? If not you should get those and an EKG. Does high BP run in your family? My husband eats well, exercises, and is a healthy weight. He's had high BP since his 20s. There might not be a secondary cause. Sometimes controlling BP is tricky. It may make time and multiple meds, maybe a combination together, to get it under control.

They've not done any kidney testing yet. I had a stress test that came back just fine. I've been wondering about the kidney one though because I retain so much fluid. I started gaining weight and my bp went up all at the same time. And the meds will work fine for a couple weeks and then poof stop working. Now I'm on 120mg of Verapamil in the morning and at night-----and I'm so swollen I can't squat down. I can't take BCP either, and I'm allergic to latex----the non latex ones aren't the best in the world and even those cause irritation. My OB/GYN said if I got pg he'd refer me to a perinatologist who specializes in high blood pressure and pregnancy. There's some sort of....machine or something.....only 2 in the state and we have one here that is used soley for preggers to determine the cause of the high BP....I'll try to find a link on it. but I still want it under control before I got pg for obvious reasons.
