I know not everyone can afford vacations every summer (us included!) but do you have any weekend/day trips planned for the summer?
We'll probably hit the lake a few times and maybe the beach for the day though I'm not a huge fan of the Jersey shore. I do love Cape May though and they have an awesome zoo there that's free so maybe we'll do that one day. I'd also love to take the kids to Dutch Wonderland sometime this summer. We went when I was 7 months pregnant with Lochy and Liam had a blast even at 17 months old. I think they'll really love it now that they're older.
We are going on a 2 week vacation to North Carolina (outer banks) at the end of August/beginning of September but my parents payed for that because its for my whole family. Really looking forward to staying right on the beach for 2 whole weeks!
Anyone else have any plans?

DH and I went last weekend to Biloxi, MS and thats about all the vacations we'll take until baby is born!! We usually do a long weekend in Grand Isle, LA with DH's family every summer, but that won't be happening this year because of the oil spill. We are planning a week trip in November to Gatlinburg, TN that I am really excited about!!!

sounds like fun!
We are going camping with my in laws and family friends and a bunch of other people are stopping by It's going to be a blast!!! We've gone camping every year at the same place for a bit now. The family friends have a daughter a bit younger then me and she is pregnant with her first, her and her husband are coming! Also they have a son James' age (can you tell why they are long time family friends hehe) and I believe he's trying to come. Wonderful people for sure so it shall be lots of fun. Plus James' aunt and uncle and some others may stop in.

We didn't plan on going but got a deal for $200 to go to costa rica so we did that last week. Then at the end of this job we are going to Atlanta, GA for a short trip. Then it depends on where we are located, but I'm sure we will take more.
Not sure if everyone knows this.....but DH's job pays for our hotel/car and gives us money for gas/food/laundry etc even when he isn't working that day (they pick up mine and londons plane tickets to and from job sites also). So I don't want you all to think we are some huge moneybags that throw our money around LOL because we AREN'T!

I'm jealous that you live near a beach! Ours are man made and really crappy.
We are not traveling much. Next weekend, we are driving down to my sister's (4 hours!), and we will be going back at the end of July for her wedding (so excited for her!!!!) Other then that, a few weeny roasts at my friend's farm just outside of the city, and my family's reunion in August (camping with a 4 month old! Woohoo!)

Hahaha, you've obviously never been to a New Jersey beach. Most are, shall we say, not my cup of tea. I really only like the cape may beach--its where we took our honeymoon (didn't want to go far with a 5 month old at home).

haha now here I thought that with me mentioning all the trips sounded like I was bragging so I added the last part to un-brag Maybe I should throw out some extra stuff.... like his job does sound great on paper. But every startup has a 3-4 week period where he works 12+hrs a day everyday. And since he is chief he is on call at all times and frequently gets call at all hours of the night. So the breaks are life savers for him.

Yes Angela, please share with us things that suck about his job, it helps with my jealousy issues!!
We certainly aren't going anywhere for a while. DH is convinced Charlotte can't go out in public for like 2 months (even though she has already been to the most germ filled place she could probably go... the peditrician's office). When I go back to work at the end of the summer I will have no sick or vacation leave for the rest of the year because it is all eaten up by maternity leave. So I have to live vicariously through everyone's vacation pics!

lets see.... he works for the oil industry so that makes us oh so popular when gas prices go up or oil spills happen. Have you smelled an oil refinery---YUCK and its deep in his skin so he always smells like that. his job can send us to a crappy location (no-where, china) living in a hotel rocks, but sharing one bathroom with a man who has a sensitive stomach to new foods SUCKS! Does those help?!

It helps a little... although my DH works for an oil company too, so that one didn't help at all! Although the stink one was awesome.

I usually take a "vacation" by myself every year to visit friends because my friends dont like in NY.
This year I am taking 2!
I am going to Orlando from August 12-15th and the Atlanta from September 3-6.
DH, myself and the baby might go up to Buffalo to visit family for a weekend as well.

No vacations here. We do some family type things within a few hours drive and that is it. My mom, Oliver, and I are suppose to go to the Indiana Dunes next weekend and visit my grandfather (about 2.5 hrs away).

Too preggo to do much of anything at this point. Maybe we'll go camping as that could be fun, just for a couple days. Just the two of us one last time, at least for a while.
