Research IUD's before you get it.. I had the Mirena and I wished I did more research before I had it put in.. I learned that the Mirena thins out the uterus lining.. So, an egg can get fertilized but just can't implant, it just pass right through.. That really bothered me. I look at it as an abortion, but you just don't know about it.. I had it removed a few weeks later.. And if you do get pregnant, there's a huge risk of miscarriage if the IUD stays in or if it comes out. It also made me PMS 24/7.. It was a vary expensive change too.. cost me $300 (That's with my insurance covering 80% of the costs

) to put in and $40 to take out..
Oh.. I have heavy periods.. I had the Mirena for 6 months and had no period.. I did have cramping and severe mood changes..

Good luck when you get out of the service.. I got out of the Navy in 2006 and have been enjoying the civilian life since.. Never looked back.. hehe
