On Saturday, we are taking a 4 hour trip to visit my sister.
Do you have any tips that will help?
I'm planning on sitting in the back with him, and bringing along his two favorite toys. Of course, I'm also expecting lots of stops to feed and change him. We were thinking of bringing along one bottle for his first feeding, but he might not actually take it.
TIA!

i guess you already know to take extra outfits, for you and baby. A lovie from home, make sure carseat is in good and tight, and be prepared for feedings and changes. I think you got it covered. 3m is a good age to travel really imo. they don't really have a lot you need to take with ya. I'd make sure to take extra diapers, maybe some disposable changing pads, oh and plastic bags for dirty diapers. But really, he may sleep the bulk of the trip.

We traveled for about 12 hours I think??? When Curtis was 2 months old. I actually didnt sit in the back with him. I found it made him madder haha. He just hung out, slept etc. We pulled over lots to feed and change him. It was a pretty good trip actually. We were moving here so my in laws were with us driving the moving truck. I nursed him, never did a bottle. Just whipped him out and fed him and then burped, changed and put him back in and kept going!

We're doing this on Saturday too. Lila is not a huge fan of the carseat so I'm not really looking forward to the car ride. We're visiting my brother and sil in northern virginia. I'll most likely be sitting in the front but will move my way to the back if necessary. She's got a paci that she'll take in the car *usually*. I don't think I'll take a bottle though just stop and nurse her when she needs it. I've fed Liam a bottle in the car when he was a baby and because he was strapped in and I couldn't burp him he ended up spitting up the entire thing a few minutes after. Not worth it to me since we had to pull over then anyway. You should be fine though. Just stop as much as you need to.

I think these ladies pretty much covered it !!! He may as its only 4 hours just sleep most of it .. feed and change him before you set off and then if he slept the whole 4 hours there its no biggie as you can just feed and change him once there. I would still just nurse him if you need to .. you would have to pull over to burp him if he had a bottle anyway so you may as well just pull over, nurse, wind, change, back in carseat and set off.

We did a 3.5 hr trip and then the return journey on the same day when he was 2.5 months old.
I didn't sit in the back with him actually. He slept most of the time... this was back in the day before the car seat hatred, lol. And anyway, I get carsick if I ride in the back. I just brought a normal stocked diaper bag. He was fed/diaper changed right before we left and then we only stopped once at approximately 2 hrs into it. Just took a longer break at a rest stop. He got another bottle and diaper change, and we sat and had a coffee. He had about 20-25 minutes to 'stretch'. We didn't need to stop any more often than 2 hrs because he always ate on a 3-4 hr schedule from the very beginning. We did the same on the way back.

Ugh, I'll be doing this soon too...except 10 hrs and alone. We're moving, so DH has to take his car and I have to take mine. And my LO hates her car seat
Anyhow, just take your time and stop as often as you need, especially if it is hot. I think sitting in the car seat makes them hot already plus the AC doesn't reach them very well while RF.

Ian went on his first plane ride at 4 months from Oregon to Arizona, he slept the entire way! Be prepared for stops and diaper changes, but he might just sleep through the car ride! Ditto everyone here! I love traveling and my babies have always been good travelers!!

At that age, Amara was still a sleeper especially if she was in a car. I think most of the things you will need have been mentioned already. Good luck! Ihope it all goes well.

Thanks, ladies!
Good point about the burping! I forgot all about that, and Logan needs to be burped pretty often during a feeding.
Unfortunately, the trip was canceled because my nephew is sick and highly contagious But we'll be driving down for my sister's wedding, when Logan is almost 4 months old.

We will be traveling next month when Camden is almost 3 months old. I'm nervous about it because we'll be in the car all day and he doesn't always like being in his carseat. I'm hoping he'll sleep a lot.
