So yeah... maybe i need to take it easy lol. As you know, i just got back from a busy vacation. I started having infrequent braxton hicks. Then I went back to work immediately after coming home. I worked 2, 12 hour shifts in a row. i noticed i had more contractions at work. Then this morning I helped move a very heavy woman. She weighed over 300 lbs, was bed ridden, and was scared of being rolled over. When you rolled her over, she would actually push back against you... and you abs and back. I had a really painful contraction at that time... and then they jsut didn't stop. I went home and took a bath... they felt like they calmed down. So i went to bed... and they came back. I was having once every 10 minutes. I called my doctor, and then went into the hospital.
Naturally once in the hospital, the contractions seemed to have stopped. They put me on the monitor, and it showed nothing. However, my cervix was very irritated, and started bleeding at the slightest brush. It was still tight closed though. Just when the nurse came in, i had a contraction, and it wasn't picked up by the monitor, but she felt my bellly and said that i was indeed having some good ones. Apparently the monitor is made for a bigger uterus, and an older baby. She moved it lower, and then i started having contractions almost constantly for about an hour. These the machine got about half of. They started me on fluids, and the contractions died down almost immediatley. My cervical swab came back with nasty infection. So now i'm on antibiotics. I'm at home, and I called in from work. I just going to rest this weekend. Still haveing irregular contractions, but nothing like this morning.
Didn't imagine i'd be dealing with this so soon.

Take it easy Alice and keep hydrated, especially with this heat! I went through the same thing with Lila (a few times) and I know it's scary. Keep your little Teddy baking!

Alice! What in the world are you doing moving patients?! Trust me, there is always someone else that can do it...so what if they moan about it. It isn't worth you or your baby's healthy. Take it easy.

Okay girlie, you sit your booty down, drink a bunch of water and relax! If you don't we'll come after you with the van. No more heavy duty work or exercise for you! Feel free to play the "pregnant" card at work ALL you need and even when you think you don't need to. Be sure and tell them what happened to and I'm sure they will cut you some slack, kwim?
I hope this was just a one time thing and the rest of your preggo days go smoothly.

Thanks ladies! I'm happy to report that my 4-6 contractions an hour has died down to 1 or 2 week contractions an hour. I'm feeling good. Feeling stupid of course lol. I'm hoping this will be a wakeup call for my co-workers too. They offered me all sorts of help in the beginning... and now not so much. I wondering if the contractions will calm down even more after the infection dies down. I guess we'll see.

glad to hear things have calmed down! Gotta take things easy for sure and always put that baby first!
I know it's hard... I'm forgetting to take it easy and to drink my water... and I'm getting BH which is something I've never gotten before. Eep.

Yeah mama take it easy!!! I'm so glad to hear things are ok. Like Angela I was bad at taking it easy and I was high risk from the get go. I finally got in the bed for a weekend and took it easy when I started bleeding at 31weeks, it took that to scare me enough to slow down....so please take it easy!
