Sarah, I don't know how close you are to downtown, but how are you making out with the G20? Its pretty dangerous down there right now. Someone I know who lives on Dundas/Spadina had all her windows broken and stuff thrown through them, and my friend who lives at Queen/Bathurst came to stay with us for the weekend.

Hey! We are pretty close to the action (near U of T), but not right directly in it, thank goodness. We were at our friends place way outta the city last night and we flicked on the tv and we were like OMG! Stuff is on fire?! My mom already thinks 'there are gangs in toronto' so this is not helping lol but basically we are just staying home this weekend and avoiding the G20 area altogether, even last weekend we tried to go out for breakfast and the place we wanted to go to was blocked off! as for the stuff that the riot squads have been dealing with, if it were actual protests for some visible reason i'd be cool with it but its just idiots burning and smashing stuff and wasting tax payers (MY!) money. it really irritates me.
luckily i've been soooooooo freaking exhausted today and i have barely gotten off the couch so i don't feel too put out by the whole situation!

i can't believe people are having their homes damaged though, that's so brutal. That's nice of you to let them stay with u!

Well, the government isn't paying to fix any of the damage... so we'll see how that goes. My parents were supposed to come visit this weekend and moved it to next weekend because of G20, but now they'll be here to see a boarded-up destroyed city. Its so sad.

well it's pretty localized i think and a lot of it is in the real hipster areas like queen, so just take them to places like Casa Loma, CN Tower, Lakeshore..... High Park is so nice too, believe it or not i'm so close to it and i just went down there for the first time last weekend to their little zoo with SIL & Payne, you can get good fries at the main kiosk there too, i wanna try the poutine next time. if you walk thru high park i think you come out pretty close to lakeshore on the south side of it too so that would work out. I know a great breakfast place that's close to the lake too if you are interested, we go there every couple weeks.

Glad you girls are okay. Sure is crazy watching all that happen on TV. I noticed it wasn't even for anything... just tons of stuff getting destroyed. These people dressed in black.. are they the same group that came to the olympics in Van to do damage?

its probably the same group, i'm not sure though. they are a bunch of social media nerdballs. "lets all get together and wreck stuff!" IDIOTS.

the rest of the city is fine though, me and dh went out for coffee not too far from where its all going down and it was business as usual. everytime we saw someone in black he would whisper "black block" under his breath to me, or we would exclaim ANARCHY! lol Black block is what those people who are destroying stuff are being called....honestly i wish i could just slap them in the mouth they are SO rediculous!!!
