there is a odor free paint, forgot the name of it. I used the Velspar brand and it was low odor enough for me to paint with the windows open.

I'm not sure the what brands are available in the US/Canada but I've heard alot of persons here refer to paint that is preggo safe. I think that any of the home stores should be able to direct you to the safest choice.

Ya I would ask the employee in that department for help!

I know Amy just did some painting in her new place, perhaps she can help you as well.

I just had my MIL do it for me.... Everyone (MIL FIL and hubby) took the wall paper off (using a toxic stripper or something) and then primed and painted. We used benjamin moore (however you spell that) paint.

I just painted 2 places pretty much by my self!

I used Valspar paint in the Kid's rooms had the window's open for ventilation and really didn't smell it. When I primed our old place I used the cheapest Primer available ( I think It was Like Kilz or something like that ) and that stunk but didn't bother me. I brought a mask but just never used it. I think I bought it at home depot for like $5.

What are you painting?

use the no-VOC paint. Lowes has a brand called Olympic Premium. Thats what I used when painting Lani's room while prego.

Home Depot has a no-VOC paint called Freshaire but they dont have a lot of colors to choose from and you cant mix colors in the store.

no-VOC paint means that its odorless.

Be careful. We got stuff that the idiot at the hardware store said was low fumes and it wasn't at all. I started painting with it and the fumes totally snuck up on me and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I taught me that the people at the hardware store (at least the one I go to) are not experts and that it is nearly impossible to tell how bad paint fumes get if you are in the room as they are gradually released because you get used to the smell.

I don't mean to discourage you, but I started a similar project while pregnant and I regretted it so much because it took a lot longer than I thought and took up all of my quality time wiyh DH before Charlotte was born. Then again we were also taking down wallpaper and painting trim (sucked) and we started at the end of my second trimester... not smart!

I painted when pregnant. I used a no-VOC paint. It's not that its odorless, its that is does not give off toxic fumes.

I painted when I was erm.... well I can't remember. I think I was in the 1st trimester?
