This is what I've been getting a lot lately from family as well as complete strangers:

"You look great!...for having three kids." or
"You look great!...for having a four month old."

Um, thanks?

They seem like backhanded compliments. Why can't people just leave the last part off, or say nothing at all?

Aw I'm sorry Jenn. Sometimes people just don't think about what they are saying. I think they genuinely mean "you look great" but don't understand how the rest of what they say comes across, you know?

Now see I say that all the time to people ... I didn't realize it could be a negative thing. I love it when people say it to me. The way I think of it is that its even MORE impressive that your still hot because you have had kid(s) and can still be that good looking.
