So I Finally got her In! We went yesterday and the girl was very nice and just went over everything with her to see how her fine motor skills are, How active she is, where she's learning, etc....And of course the eating. She pretty much came to the conclusion ( Like I didn't know this already ) that she has Sensory issues with her mouth. She eats soft food's fine but when it comes to ANYTHING thats harder or has a texture she tends to gag on it. She gave her a Pretzel and had her take lil bites of it. She listened to her "chewing" and said she seemed to be fine. I told her she mostly just chew's a few bites and swallow's even when she shouldn't yet which in takes her to gag on her food. Like today we went out to eat and I was making the saltine crackers SO fricken small and she choked on it. She had her fingers up to her mouth and was making weird looks and then she coughed and choked a little. She scares The S&*# out of me when she does this so I hope we can get this problem fixed! The lady said she'll hear back from me this week and I will probably have to enroll her in OT where they will show her how to eat and give me some Idea's of things to do with her at home. She in no way Looks underweight ( 26lb''s other then being short ) but I know she doesn't eat at the level normal 2 year old's do. I ALWAYS have to watch what she eats, try's to eat, what is given to her, etc...

I didn't know she was still having a hard time with eating different foods. That choking would scare me too! Hopefully she will learn quickly from her OT. Keep us posted on how she is doing with it. It must be a real pain to come up with foods for her to eat. I know it's not easy having a picky eater (not that it's the same).

She didn't give me any exercises to do since it was just an assessment. She said it didn't seem to bad but since I told her she chokes on her food a lot they were concerned. She said after they submit all the work into the comp they will call me and set something up. Im trying to figure how Im gonna do this with a NB and a 2 year old, ugh! Just when I think she's doing better at eating she'll choke again, It is SO frustrating! Today we went out to eat and I gave her a saltine cracker, seriously the thing was smaller then your pinky nail and she started grabbing her mouth and acting funny, and what do you know she starts coughing. UGH! Of course she freaks out and then It's hard for me to sit her back down again. She's had these feeding issues since day 1!!!! She used to gag on pacifier's and when ever I tried giving her a Bottle ( Pump BM ) she would gag on that too. Guess those were sign's. Sarah, she's not on baby food. Barely touched the stuff and still hates things that are the consistency ( Apple sauce, mashed potato's, etc ) of baby food. She eats mostly normal foods as long as there soft ( Noodles, rice, likes chicken and fish, cheese, etc ) but gag's on things that are crunchy ( cracker's, graham crackers, things like that )

I can imagine that must be very frustrating and scary for both you and Cambria. KUP on what sorts of things they do with her to help her out!
