we need to finish up the "nursery" which is actually just half of our bedroom. Since it is half of our bedroom we didn't want to do any really crazy colors. We picked out bedding before we had a theme in mind and then it went on clearance so we bought it. I'm hoping to find a way to incorporate a book/writing/childrens' literature theme into the room as we are naming her Harper after Harper Lee, the author of To Kill A Mockingbird. We would like to maintain the colors in the bedding, or colors that go well with them just so the whole room doesn't get too crazy. I plan on making a mobile to hang from the ceiling above the crib but I'm still torn on what to make. On the wall above the back of the crib I am going to put a wall quote up in chocolate brown, probably a quote from Peter Pan (or Harry Potter if I can find a suitable one) and on the smaller wall above the crib I want to print out her name in a typewriter font and frame each letter using these but I feel that it will be a little plain if that is the only thing on the wall.

Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated it. I feel a little overwhelmed with her arrival quickly approaching and am still working through the end of the week and in graduate school so I really haven't had a whole lot of time to put into it.

Close up of the bedding.

Overall room, the second shorter dresser will be used as a changing table. We have a changing pad on the way.

I am of no help here. I wanted so badly to do Brayden's in a story book theme but couldn't figure out what I wanted!

I think perhaps doing some stenciling or freehand of specific quotes from books in the same colors as the bedding would be pretty. Maybe frame some little golden books (2.5-3.99 each at the bookstore or Ebay them or thrift store shop) and then those could be recycled into her library later on. you could even use some scrap book paper and print some poems or story book lines onto it in bold letters in the colors of her bedding----use a muted paper----frame it and embelish with embelishments that match. I know our local walmart has some really nice ones on clearance right now and I'm doing that as christmas gifts for my family. I'm just going to print off the poem or prayer I want on the paper, cut the paper down to a 5x7 size and stick the flowers on I want on there and poof. My mom has a similar framed prayer and she loves it. Also her name on the wooden letters painted the pink of the bedding hung with green ribbon OR the letters green with pink ribbon. And you can use the wooden begs to hang them from and paint those the same color as the letters. Maybe a little display shelf with some small books on it using plate holders (I think you can find these at the $ store too which is a huge bonus lol) for the books.

Have you thought about taking the lyrics to Hush Little Baby Dont say a word and placing some of those things on the wall? The mocking bird, diamond ring, Looking glass, Billy Goat, Horse and Cat, Dog named Roover, etc?

ETA: They also make little stickies you can place on the walls as well, we have them on JJ's wall.

Update:
So we are moving the tall dresser into the closet and getting one of these are Ikea tomorrow to put in its place. IKEA | Back to school | College | EXPEDIT | Bookcase

We picked the quote "I'm youth, I'm joy, I'm a little bird that has broken out of the egg" from Peter Pan by JM Barrie to put over the bed and are trying to figure out a font so we can have it custom made on Esty.

We are making a mobile to hang over the bed with paper cranes dyed pink and tan, made out of recycled book pages.

Any one have any ideas that would go well with this. We are going to need stuff to put on the shelves. I was thinking it would be sort of fun to make each square of the shelf to represent a different book.

IKEA rocks!!

What color are you getting the bookshelf in?

I'm not good with decor and visualizing things like this but I think your plans so far sound great.
