Sorry I didn't update earlier. I went back to work on Monday after two weeks of vacation and I'm exhausted. Last night I got back home, had dinner, talked a bit with Chris and went to bed at 8! Crazy!

I had my first doctor appointment on Monday and it was pretty uneventful.

I am seen at a clinic for pregnant women that is located directly in the hospital, on the same floor where I'm going to give birth. So there were big bellies everywhere. While I was waiting before the appointment, a lady asked me how far along I was and I told her I was 7.5 weeks and that it was my first appointment. She was 15 weeks. She started telling me that they were going to stick this super huge thing in my vajayjay and that it hurts a lot for days afterwards. Whaaat?
Turns out it was just a speculum and didn't hurt at all. She was a weird lady.

I was hoping the doctor would listen to the heartbeat but the intern told me I was too early and it would be hard to hear unless we did an ultrasound and they don't typically do that unless there's a problem. Oh well.

I was prescribed prenatals and something else for nausea, but since mine is not too bad so far I haven't been taking it. We'll see how things are in the next few weeks. I also got a huge bag filled with pamphlets, documentation and samples. I also got a big book that explains everything about taking care of babies. Which is good because I don't know anything about babies.

My next appointment is August 18. And I'll have an ultrasound on August 24

Oh and the doctor gave me March 5th as my EDD. I'll still go by March 3rd since I know when I ovulated. But my mom was very excited about March 5th because it's her mother's birthday.

And I will be 8 weeks tomorrow!

at the crazy lady. Maybe she meant the u/s wand? It was weird but certainly didn't give you pain for days.

I'm so glad things are going well for you. And yep, there will be many nights you will go to bed early

Man I was so EXHAUSTED during the first trimester... and I was so scared that if it was that bad then how bad it would be with a newborn... and I can honestly say that I've never really been tired with Lily -- and DEFINITELY not like I was when I was in the first trimester. I just couldn't keep my eyes open. I was going to bed early all the time! So don't feel silly for goign to bed early... your body is doing a LOT of work right now even if it doesn't look like it!

Glad your appointment went well! We heard the HB starting at the 12 week appointment and then every time after that.
