I am wondering how EC has been going for you? I still really wanna do this with my baby but i'm just wondering how it works with being out and about/travelling etc?
It's funny that in my family it is still legendary that i got payne to pee and poo on the potty twice when he was a baby, but it wasnt hard to do at all! i just held him over it after he woke up!

He hasn't pooped in a diaper since Christmas... and has been with trainers for a while now. When they were here about a month ago he was 10 months old then and in trainers all day long with no accidents the whole four days. While we were out and about all day in Atlanta she just took him to the bathroom when he had to go like you would with any other human, lol.

That's pretty cool! I want to hear more about it, how it progressed. And how did you manage with diapers getting them off on time?
Charlotte definitely gives cues, but I don't always see them. Is it something you can start when they get a little older?

Its something you can do from birth. You can look up stuff on Elimination Communication. We started taking Lily to go potty when she was 3 months old and she would pee almost every time, because when they're little they go so often. We just got serious about it again in the last couple of weeks, and she has pooped almost every single poop on the toilet. That's the best feeling ever. We did it while on vacation with my parents too and they were pretty impressed, haha.
The baby will realize you're meeting their need to eliminate and will start holding it longer for when you take them to the toilet, so its not always a mad rush to get their diaper off.
Even if your goal isn't to be totally diaper-less... its still nice to have less to wash (or buy/throw away)

thanks for sharing that site! i really like the relaxed attitude about EC, i think that will be really nice. i always think its a shame that everyone goes EWWW GROSS YUCKY when my nephew poops his diaper, i feel like he might be feeling bad about it, kwim? i mean, it is really stinky so idont blame everyone and i knwo i've done it too. but maybe i will try to EC with him when he's over here, i did notice exactly when he peed after waking up yesterday.....cant hurt to give it whirl!

they pretty much always pee as soon as they wake up... so that's the best time to start taking them to the potty b/c you'll get a catch and it makes YOU feel so good that you're more likely to stick with it and look for cues b/c you want to do it again, lol.

plus the summer is great for naked time!
The hardest part of ECing is to stay relaxed and remember its NOT the catches that count. Its the COMMUNICATION with your child that rocks!
That satisfaction you get when you understand them and what they need... it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling <3
