I know, I know... I'm the biggest slacker on the planet. I do read most of the posts, I just don't reply too often.
Anyway, thought I'd give everyone an update on us!
Xander is over 9 months old now! I cannot believe he is this old. At his checkup he was 17 lb 12 oz, which puts him in the 10th percentile! This is quite an improvement from 5th of 0th at his previous appts. I don't worry about his weight anymore, though. This kid can seriously pack it away! But he's so active all day long and I know that's why he's lower on the charts. He just started crawling, though he had been army crawling and scooting around for a long time before then. I think it was almost 2 weeks ago that he started the real thing. He's pretty fast, but it hasn't really been an issue. He's just not that adventurous, he doesn't venture too far from me or Jer, just crawls to his toys and plays. He occasionally goes for a shoe or the speakers by the TV, but otherwise he leaves everything alone. This should make me happy, but I guess I feel like he should be more curious about things... I even opened some cabinets in the kitchen to show him and he was like "whatever mom." lol. He's trying to pull himself up, but just hasn't quite gotten it yet. He's good at putting weight on his legs if you hold his arms and if you set him against the couch he can hold himself up just fine. As I said, he can really pack it away. He LOVES food! He'll eat anything and gets so excited for his meals. Some of the more interesting things he's eaten are roasted eggplant, asparagus, sauteed mushrooms and onions (mixed with all sorts of veggies or beef), hummus, salmon, the list goes on. The only food he flat out hated was turnips, but they aren't in season and they were pretty potent. We'll try again in the fall. And he LOVES cheese, especially havarti. If you're eating cheese you'd better give him some or he'll go nuts. He's doing good with feeding himself chunks of foods. We started with puffs for training, but now he can eat chunks of banana, avocado, toast, cheese, peaches, plums, etc. However, whenever Jer's around he freaks out after a minute and makes me mash it up. It makes him so nervous to watch Xander chew. He's never choked, I don't know what his problem is, but he just can't handle it.

Oh well, I feed him 95% of his meals, so it won't hold him back. We're still breastfeeding. In fact, Xander is better at nursing than ever! I still give him two 4 oz bottles of pumped milk AFTER he nurses a few times a day just because, but when he does nurse he gets the job done. I only have to pump a few times a day to get whatever he missed. He'll occasionally have an off day if he's in pain from teething or something, so I just pump extra on those days to make up the difference. I will nurse him until he's a year and after that I'll let him self wean. I'll give him a little whole milk once a day at lunch in a sippy cup and as he loses interest in nursing I'll add more whole milk. If he doesn't lose interest in nursing, well, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll probably just keep nursing him. Part of me really really really just wants my body back already, but I also don't want to deny him. Maybe he'll wean to just nursing before bed or something and that I could handle. I guess we'll just wait and see, I still have 3 months until I have to worry about that. He has his bottom two teeth and his top FOUR teeth are just about to come through - one has actually just started breaking through. He's been SO crabby for a week now and is in a lot of pain. It sucks. I can't wait til they're through so he can have some relief.
I guess that's about it for now. I suppose I can share a few pictures!
