Ugh I could about scream at my mom right now!

My parents know I am delaying vaccines, however, my mom decides to just tell me last night for the first time ever that I am NOT vaccinated against pertussis because the first DTaP vaccine I had I reacted SO bad, they decided to not give pertussis to me! (and I reacted fine to the DT after that - had no reactions)

Did she ever think to tell me this since oh I don't know, my son could have a similar reaction when we decide to vaccinate?!?!

Grr.

Another reason for me to keep pushing them off. Looks like now we will only be doing DT when it is time.

I'd be too afraid of what odd side effect I would get from it. I seem to always be the less then 2% of the population. J.J seems to be that way too.

Seriously Angela! What is it with our parents?!

We are delaying until age 2, and then it will be a heavily modified schedule.

This totally sounds like something my mom would do, except she's an FNP and should know better! In July of 2007 I had my tonsils out and the ENT put me on penicillin post-op which I ended up having a majorly bad reaction to. Lee called my parents from the hospital to tell them I was alright and my mom said, "Oh yeah, she's the one with the penicillin allergy." Gee, thanks for telling me!!

LOL talk about waiting until the last possible moment to tell you something that important!

I made it a habit to document EVERYTHING for my son just in case. I think its more for DH since he still forgets J.J is allergic to Axid

That is awful! I can't believe a mom would forget to mention something so important. I should be thankful that my mom remembers everything from blood types to when we lost our baby teeth. She's like an encyclopedia (but she's also a nurse, that could have something to do with it).

Wow, I guess parents have some major brain farts, huh?

On a semi related note, Matthew got his first vaccine today. He got DTaP. So far no side effects. I'm so glad I waited till he was older to start and he will get them 1 at a time.
