So you wanna know?

You REALLY wanna know??

Its not dogs or cats (*phew*)

Its not mold or dust mites.....

Its....

EGG!

His arm blew up with the skin testing for egg. This however does NOT explain a lot of stuff though! So we are also blood testing him for milk/soy and the other high allergy foods as well as the egg too.

He is DEFINITELY not allergic to dogs or cats. The allergist believes the congestion could be from his adenoids as well. So we'll see what the x-ray shows!

I had a boyfriend that was allergic to eggs. You don't think about how much stuff eggs are in until you have to learn to avoid them, unfortunately. I'm glad you are getting some answers, though.

At least you can have pets around. I know how hard it would be to give up all of the cats you help. Now you know you won't have to! I've heard of egg allergy but wouldn't begin to know how to avoid any and all eggs. That is going to be a tricky one. I wonder if they (food manufacturers) make egg-free stuff that's widely available like they do for gluten-free?

We were not expecting Egg at all. We were expecting Milk or Soy and maybe Wheat.

So we need to peal breading off his fish sticks and chicken nuggets, and the what not.

We can start giving him yogurt again. He loves yogurt.

She believes he could have slight lactose intolerance even though kids this young "don't have it". So we'll see what the blood tests show. We have to travel a bit to get to the lab that has a person who is a pediatric phlebotomist. They are few and far between.

Well, thats a good thing to know as unexpected as it may be. My cousin's wife is allergic to eggs and I know she uses egg substitute from time to time for things.

Ian was allergic to egg for the first year. if it was blended in the food like a cake or cookies, he was fine, but chuncks of egg like fried rice or quesh (?) he'd get diarrhea. Jay's mom cant even have it in cookies or it will cause diarrhea. I hope he grows out of it!!

Hey Sam- just two FYI's. First, if he ever has to have anesthesia, make sure you tell them about his egg allergy. He can't have a common induction agent with that allergy. (Propofol). Second, egg allergy is also a contraindication to flu shots. I'm glad you've gotten some answers!

Those were both my first thoughts also!
I knew a few people with egg allergies....not fun but doable.

I hope you get a good phlebotomist. When we did Matthew's testing he had to be stuck 3 times. the first woman couldn't get it so we had to go to another one. So don't be afraid to ask for someone else (if they have another person) if he gets stuck and they don't get the blood! She tried to "fish" for his vein too until I made her stop.

At least they list eggs with the allergy information on packaged foods now. That should be a huge help to you as JJ gets older and you need to pack lunches for school and etc.

Didn't expect that but I know of someone with a case similar to what Beth said. Hopefully soon you will have that list sorted out. Does he have an allergy bracelet or chain yet? My nephew is allergic to so many things he has 2 bracelets.

Amara has her tests on August 24 but her allergies are mild.

We have an adult with a nut allergy

Another adult with an allergy to latex, banannas and something else

One child allergic to sesame seeds

Good for you for trusting your Mommy instincts about vaccinating!!!

Liam was allergic to pumpkin (I know, random right?) but he outgrew it.
Lochy is allergic to strawberries and has not outgrown it, don't know if he will.

Wow. That's crazy. Is it just eggs or is it dairy?
