Well.. If you only want to do laundry every three days I'd say at least 30-40 diapers since he goes a lot still at this age. I wash every other day and get by easily on 20 diapers.

I knew what the sposies were but I couldn't think of anything to go with os. Now I know.

I wash every 1 1/2 to 2 days and have 8 covers (reusable with just pee) and I don't know how many inserts... probably around 25. That is my main rotation. I have some backups if I wait too long to wash.
Are you sure you want to wash every three days? Most of the washing instructions on the diapers I got say wash at least every two. I always thought I would want to go more like three, but when I got down to doing it I found I prefer every 1 to 2 just because they begin to get a little funky. I'm just wondering because I wouldn't want to see you buy enough to go three days only to then go one or two.

DS is 15 months and uses 8-10 dipes a day (depending on how much he poops). So every 3 days is 30 dipes, but for a 4 month old you'd probably need around 40 like Resi said.

Thanks, ladies!

I have 16 and wash every other day .. say starting on monday with 16 clean (she ues about 5 a day including a nighttime one) so I would then wash when I have 10 which would be wednesday night .. and then I would wash friday night and so on.
I would personnaly wash every other day as they start to smell if left longer and then you might get a staining issue ??
