Cambria hates being in the Moby wrap unless she falls asleep. She cries and fusses when she is facing my chest so I decided to try to put her in the newborn hug hold but facing forward. I curl up her legs and I make sure I don't lean forward so her head just leans back on my breasts. She seems a lot more content because she can face outward and see what's going on.

Do you think this is okay or not?

Also does anyone have any suggestions on what to do when baby doesn't like being in a carrier where they face into your chest? I have a Beco, too, and we're not getting much use out of it either because she hates being in there unless she falls asleep. I know the Bjorn isn't good for the baby but I'm starting to think that's the only kind of carrier she will be happy in!

The Bjorn was the only one Oliver was happy in. He was fine facing me until he was a few months old. Then he wanted to see from the front view.

When Cambria was little she liked the sleepy wrap but as she got older all she wanted was the Bjorn. She LOVED facing out and didn't like anything that wasn't. But since she was such a beaver she also decided to chew through the front part of the Bjorn!! Lil brat

Brayden would headbutt me too much to face forward for long....he busted my lip AND my nose! But he never had a problem with it. I'd think as long as she is well supported with no chance of her falling out, and as long as she can breath and there's no danger of her choking or smothering or anything then it'd be fine.

I started using the side hold with my Moby and Xander is able to look around all he wants, otherwise he'd have his head turned the entire time.

I didn't have a top brand carrier but I had a Disney one that a friend gave me and I used it in the early months. Amara hated to face forward in it, so I just had her facing out and she was very happy with that. I didn't have the leaning forwat issue. This one had a flap that could turn back so I would turn it back so that her chin was somewhat resting on it and she was good. I guess I should say that we only used it 1 or 2 times a month for the first 6 months (mainly for grocery shopping) and then it was a pain to get her in and out by myself so I gave it up and we used the shopping cart cover since she could sit up well on her own by that time.

I have a Beco Butterfly, my son loves to be in it..

Have you looked at the Beco Gemini? You can forward face in the Gemini..

I just wanted to add that isn't recommended for them to face forward for long periods of time, it can put a lot of pressure on their spine, especially in the "crotch dangling" position.

I just got a beco and I LOVE it. Nolan can see out the sides just fine and soon I will start doing back carries in it and then he can see "forward".
