Pregnant lady rant ahead!!!!!

So I'm 8 weeks today and had my first prenatal appt. Did the pap, everything seemed good, then my doc issued some blood work. For some reason I thought the blood work was next time, but oh well. Usually I'm very apprehensive about needles, but I was so exhausted I didn't give a crap. I just laid there with my arm out while they took 5 vials.

Then I got my u/s order. My OB has a small office so she sends us to the hospital (pretty much next door) to get u/s done. With Henry, I got an appt. within a week of calling. But they have nothing open until September 2nd! So I have to wait another 3 freakin' weeks! I want to make sure everything is okay in there. Called my mom and cried, she said "oh there won't be any problems. The baby will be fine." But once you've had a loss (I know alot of those ladies will agree with me), you can no longer relax until you hear/see that heartbeat and little baby.

Plus, I'm already getting annoyed with all these appts. that I need a babysitter for Henry. Isn't that sad? What did I expect?

I'm tired, I feel sick, and I feel guilty for not being as excited about this whole experience as I was with DS.

{{{HUGS}}} I am sorry! I know this will NOT help at all, but just a few more weeks and you will see that beautiful, healthy baby! I have never experienced a loss before, but I remember how worried sick I was something bad would show up on the u/s. I hope the next few weeks fly by for you!!

I understand 100% what you're saying. I'd be ticked off too. After you have a loss there is really no reassurance on earth anyone can say that can give you peace of mind. After all, we heard all of those assurances with the lost pregnancy and hearing "the odds are in your favor" or "stop worrying so much" or "I had spotting at ___ weeks and my baby is fine" did not keep the worst from happening then, so why would it help now?

My best advice is to remember that you heard the same assurances with Henry and he WAS ok. It had nothing to do with anything anyone said, he was just meant to be born. This bean either will or won't be ok, and it's out of your hands. That said, if it were me, I'd probably be calling the u/s place directly just to explain that I've had a previous loss that was caught by u/s and you're requesting to be moved up if there are any cancellations. I bet that on a daily basis they have 1 or 2 slots become open.

Well, I spoke to the radiology dept. that will do the u/s, I can't get more direct than that. But I think I will be calling every few days to see if there is a cancellation. DH has a tight schedule and it makes it hard when he can only do evenings.

Exactly what I was going to say, if I was pregnant and had to wait that long (after going through all of my losses) I would definitely be calling them and telling them I would take ANYTHING that opens up! Good Luck! I hope you get in sooner!

ETA: I just saw your response to Kyle...that is hard with DH only being able to do weekends, well I hope something works out sooner!

No I know what you mean. It get's a lot worst though when your further along and you have to get a sitter while you go get "checked"...Oh fun! I have to TRY and make my appointments later in the afternoon when my moms off work. But in doing that It means I sit in traffic for way over an hour with a screaming kid in the back seat! It's SO not easy the 2nd time around. They were so non chalont about test's and stuff with this pregnancy too. Maybe they think it's a piece of cake, I dont know. I dont get it! They wouldn't even test my blood. They took the vials and said ok thanks. Umm, ok?

I'm sorry you can't get an u/s sooner! We only get them at 20 weeks here unless we do the nuchal scan at 12 (I'm doing it, I want to see my baby!). And I still haven't heard the heartbeat. I'm worried, but I try to tell myself I have more chance of everything being good than the opposite.

That being said, I hope they'll have a cancellation earlier!

That stinks you have to wait a few weeks to make sure everything is okay. I'm sure it's fine but I understand the need to find out right away.

I'm confused to why you can't take Henry with to the appointments? I've taken Oliver to my yearly exam and a few other doc. appts without any problems. I've either put him in a stroller so he couldn't move around or held him.

Maybe if Henry was an easier kid. But he will NOT let you hold him, ever. And I tried once with my yearly last fall. I put him in a stroller. Even with toys and a snack he was screaming.

It's the only hospital in the county. I COULD get a scan out of county but it would cost more than $100 to do so. That's what we did to find out Henry's gender.

Yes here we only have one around 20 weeks. I had early ones due to checking dates.. and my current place (with Dustin and this baby) has a really old one in their office that does the "job" so to speak. Usually you have to wait.. that's killer I'm sure!

I hope you can get in quicker!! A cancellation or something.

I would totally try to get him used to going with you, maybe use a stroller or something. It might make it easier if you know you "could" bring him if you can't get a baby sitter.

I know for us the easiest was to make my apt around the same date and time every month, and my MIL was the one to baby sit. It was nice cause she knew well in advance that that day she would be needed. We are getting a bit crazier with going every two weeks now.. she's been out of town for a couple months... so we've just taken the boys. I do have James' help though.. if I didn't they would be stuck in the double stroller haha.
