About half the time its great and I love nursing her but the rest of the time its seriously annoying me. She'll push on my chest and lock her elbow and pull back her head while she's latched on. It freaking hurts! I know its her way of dealing with my overactive letdown but man it sucks. I have to keep knocking her arm off me til the letdown settles and she can relax. I've tried pumping it off in the beginning but it doesn't seem to help. Oh and she's taken to biting, thank god no teeth yet. She's teething though and thats why she's doing it. I take her off and say "No biting, that hurts Mommy" in a stern voice but she's too little to really get it. Just needed to vent.

The biting may be a letdown issue not a teething issue---not that it fixes anything I just thought I would let you know LOL. Her swallowing will become more effective as time goes so a strong let down will not be an issue then.... and for some good new-Nothing official but i have noticed that women who BF and have strong letdown's babies usually pick up eating solid foods better because of the better swallow ability and from being used to having so much in their mouth at once.

This may sound funny but have you tried nursing her while moving? Like wearing in a carrier or on a rocking chair (while rocking).... sometimes the movement helps them think of other things so they don't fixate on the task at hand. ... which can be good! LOL Also laying down nursing has been my life saver! He has to lay on one arm and I can "manage" the other while in that position. I bet we nurse 80% of the time like that now.
I still have my days also.

Rylie used to do the same thing with her head at that age. I quit nursing at 5.5 months because of it I figured 5 months was good and I refused to be in pain as nothing I did made her stop. THEN she started trying to nurse on everyone's armpits... yeah, it was bottle time for her. It was sooo embarrassing LoL!

Nolan does this on my right side and it is SO sore right now too. And that is the power boob so it just gets worse and worse.

What I will do is I will snuggle him up and then try to nurse so that we are leaning back more so we are going against gravity. That helps some but mostly it is an ever evolving relationship between him and I. He likes to kick me in the face now too and hold onto his foot straight up in the air while nursing - he picked this up from Kennedi.

Dominic does some strange and annoying things while BFing too. He does bite every once in a while. More than the biting is now that he has 7, almost 8 teeth he will kind of drag his teeth along my nipple. OUCH. He also likes to reach up and touch my face. Half the time he'll softly caress my cheek, which is adorable, but the other half of the time he grabs and pulls/twists/scratches. He tries to put his fingers up my nose or in my mouth. This is all assuming that he isn't totally distracted and pulling off the nipple every 3 seconds to look at a noise/person/dog.

The nursing lying down thing has been my most effective intervention as well. If I try to control his arms he gets frustrated and pulls off. I find each new stage will come and then go so I try not to let it interfere with my overall attitude toward BF or feeling successful at it.

Yeah, its definitely not something that would ever make me quit. Just another one of those little annoyances. I must get breastfeeding amnesia because I don't remember these things until they crop up again! LOL I just have to get used to nursing an active baby instead of the little blob she used to be. LOL

We do nurse laying down at night but can't really do that during the day when I'm usually up and about doing things with/for the boys. So I'm either carrying her around nursing her or we're rocking in the glider.

I thought she'd be used to the letdown by now but I guess it is going to take some more getting used to. Just another one of the quirky breastfeeding things that takes some getting used to again. You'd think by the third time around I'd at least remember this stuff! I plead Mommy brain on this one! LOL I mean for crying out loud, this was Lochy once upon a time...

Cute pic! Dominic likes to nurse in that position but then his head will drop off to one side and he loses his latch.
