So I am planning a baby shower for a girl at my dh's work and looking for any ideas/suggestions for decorations, games etc!

I am hoping to do a brown/lavender theme, just cuz i think its cute and i know she's having a girl. I plan on making cupcakes with lavender icing and maybe getting some helium balloons in purples/whites/browns (if they even make brown balloons!). I think i'll need a table cloth too, but i have no idea the size of the table i'll be using so i'll probably just get whatever and hope it fits. Are streamers still cool? Or is that tacky? What should I do for favours for the guests? There will be about 11 people attending....The shower is only 1.5 hrs long, so what games should we do in that time? We are probably just getting her one big gift from all of us since she didnt register anywhere..

Maybe I'm a dork, but I still like streamers and I don't think any party is complete without them.

For favors, candy is always a hit, especially if you're having both men and women at the shower. They make M&M's you can order online in any color or mix of colors you choose. Or Hershey's kisses work also. Throw into an organza bag which you can get in bulk online or at any party store. If the guests will be women only, I'd go with small potted plants, candles, or bath & body stuff. You can get great ideas just browsing around a dollar store.

My favorite shower game is the "guess which candy bar is melted in the diapers" game. You just throw a Butterfinger in one diaper, a Hershey's Almond in another, a Reese's peanut butter cup in another, etc (about 6-8 of them is fine). Then they have to smell and even taste the "poopy diapers" to guess which is which. It's cheesy, but people always have fun with it.

I think you need Amy!!!!

I love the candy bar idea. I'm not big on favors that you can't eat, like those trinkets and things like that. For me, when I get them, I never quite know what to do with them and they get put away, never to be seen again until I'm doing a major house cleaning. So I always use items that are edible or very functional.

As for games, with my shower, I stuck to the traditional Guess the belly size, baby bingo, etc. We also wanted to have each table make a diaper cake with supplies provided and the best one would get a prize. We didn't have enough time to play but I did it at another shower and it was a hit. So much fun and man, people are so creative when you put them on the spot.

Haha, I was totally thinking Ohhh Party planning!!!!!!

Lavender and Brown would be very cute! You can totally do like Lil Satches (sp?) with Lavender in them and put a lil tag on them saying thanks for coming or the babys name on them. Totally easy and cheap to make. The baby food game is quick, easy, and fun to do..Here;s some fun party planning website's I Love!

I love the diaper game, or the guess the baby food game. Also, the string around the belly game is fun, also you can do the clothespin game-give everyone 3 clothespins, if someone catches them saying baby, they take away one clothespin. at the end whoever has the most wins.

I love streamers too!

I had a hard time trying to find Brown when I had my baby shower with Cambria. Now I see stuff everywhere, no fair! LoL. Cant wait to see pic's from the shower!! If you do plastic cups for drink you could always rim the edges with Purple sugar. Put Caro Syrup on it and it will stay better.

I'm of no help. The only baby shower I ever had was a joint one with another girl from our coworkers and it was at a pizza hut and there weren't decorations I can't wait to see pictures of it all!
