I called this afternoon to make Lochy's 3 year and Lila's 6 month appointments. We just switched peds in October so Lochy has to wait til then for his (Oct 8th). The receptionist was kinda appalled that Lila hasn't been in since her newborn appt. when she was 6 days. She said "We have to get that baby in sooner than Lochlann!" Um, what's the big deal? She's been perfectly fine, no issues, and we're delaying vaccines so why would she need to go every month or two for us to pay a $20 copay for them to tell us what we already know? She acted like I was a crap Mom who dropped the ball. Now I feel like a crap Mom.

I honestly can't remember the last time I took Dustin for a baby well check up.. or Curtis. I see them as a waste. We don't pay or anything here as its all covered but I just don't see the point unless I need to discuss something with the doctor or they need meds/assistance.

I'm not delaying vaccines on purpose... but I still need to get Dustin in for his 12 month shots lol. They weigh them and measure them there. I see no point in going to the dr.

You shouldn't feel badly. Like you said, she's been perfectly fine with no cause for concern and besides, you've been through this before so you would know what to look out for.

Don't feel bad for one second! Just remember that ladies paycheck comes from dr visits!
I had london in at 3 days to meat the Dr, 14 days (HAD to get a note for the plane ride that day), then 9months just because Troy wanted an official wt LOL, and then 11months (leaving the country and had a couple questions on international travel stuff). But I'm right there with you.

We only go every 4 months for well check up. So don't feel bad :-) I see no need for them if baby is doing fine and developing well.

Don't feel bad, this is your third child so obviously you don't have as many questions as the newbie nervous type first time moms. (aka me )

I may skip some of the well checks the 2nd time around since I delay vaxs, I just really like getting official height and weight, hehe.

I love our well baby checkups. But the little crush I have on our ped may have something to do with that.

pfft don't feel bad! those appointments are largely useless. why go to the doctor if you aren't sick and they don't really check anything besides growth. you'd know if she wasn't growing or somethng was wrong. don't sweat it!

Don't feel like a crap mom! Why didn't they schedule her next appt when she was in the first time? Or let you know how often they like to see babies?

I've wondered why I bother with well visits for Oliver. I guess the only reason I go is because of a policy the doc's office has. To be a patient he must go to the well visits. We don't have a co payment with our current insurance so it's already paid for. I guess I go because in case he gets sick there is a doc's office I feel okay taking him to. I like his doctor because she is supportive of my parenting style.

But don't feel bad for not taking her in every other month or however often is the norm. She is healthy and doing just fine! You are a seasoned mother who knows when to take her in if something isn't right.

Don't worry about that, we were behind with taking Rylie at first too thanks to moving. I'm sorry they're making you feel bad. You're a FANTASTIC mom

Bah, don't feel like a bad mom. Especially if you have BTDT. However, I like going. I like to see how much she is gaining and what % she is in. But I wouldnt lose sleep if she missed one.

Thanks everyone. She was supposed to go back a week later to get her jaundice rechecked but it took forever to get her on the insurance and by the time she was the jaundice was almost gone. Then I never had a reason to take her back--we have a digital baby scale so I know how much she weighs (15lbs at 5 months!). The only reason I'm taking her in at 6 months is to discuss those staring spells (she hasn't had any since that time I posted about it). I do like the kids' pediatricians (theres 2 in the practice) and I'm not opposed to well baby visits, I just don't see the need all the time and especially because they don't have separate sick and well waiting rooms and the boys caught a nasty cold when we took them last time.

you're a great mom! i think the well baby thing is sort of silly, especially if your kid gets sick from going in!

I like doctor visits, because I'm another mom who likes to get the height/weight and percentile... get the eyes and ears checked and all that. It's a peace of mind thing for me. But then again, I'm not BTDT like you are. And I would definitely not feel comfortable going to a medical office where they made me feel bad or guilty. Maybe the receptionist is just used to the rigid every 3 months schedule of people who follow vax guidelines. I'd mention it when I went in next (to her or the doc). They won't want to lose customers, oops I mean patients, because the receptionist is alienating parents.
