I am not the type to compare Landen to other little fellas his age but I just can't help but notice other kids his age talking more. Like he talks daily and often and he knows 50+ words but he does not use sentences other then like 2 words long unless he is repeating one word over and over. He does sing some Elmo songs pretty well though haha. Everything I have read says he is pretty normal and on track.... I feel like I am maybe not doing something right. I don't care if others are ahead of him because in my eyes he is a super jean-less and the most awesome ever because he is mine but I just want to make sure its not something to worry about.

I've read your updates on FB and see all of the new things he is saying. I think he's totally on track. I would only be concerened if he wasn't talking AT ALL or saying very few, simple words (like, very few). He's obviously learning. Didn't he just say, "night night daddy?" recently? That shows that he's putting words together to form meaning
Reid says sentences, but still very baby like. Instead of, "I want a cookie, please" he will say, "Wantie cookie! Pweeze!" haha. There are kids in my PR who DO form the more advanced sentences but I know Reid is doing fine.

Curtis is still working on all his words. He's gotten better in the last little while though. It kinda just happens. I was worried for a bit then heard from BTDT mommies that sometimes it just all of a sudden happens and "clicks" kinda thing. Curtis was very slow with talking but we saw the ability for sure. He's still hard to understand at times but he's getting better and better.
Just talk to him lots and let him talk I think it just comes with practice. I wouldn't worry but I have been there and it's hard not to. Maybe open convo with his Dr and then you can both watch his development.

Seamus has a speech issue, doesnt' say sentences right or pronounce words right. From what I've read Landen is on track. Can other people understand what he's saying? He seems on track to me. I know how hard it is to "see" others the same age doing this and that, but I think when you "see" things online or even irl with a bunch a mom's together they all compare or exaggerate things(advanced wise).

I already feel loads better!! Thanks guys!
Bre he did totally say "night night daddy" the other day and I so forgot until you mentioned it LOL!!!! I really need to sit down during nap time and go through all my facebook updates to write dates of all his cute stuff into his calender. I have been so bad about it since he turned one!!
Stephenie that's very true about things just clicking all of a sudden for them. I think that is one of my many favorite things about watching this little guy grow !!!
Justine I had a HORRIBLE speech problem as a kid. No one could understand me other then my older sister. Speech classes in school helped me a lot. I have no speech problems now at all... well other then the word "girl" I don't know why haha!! I bet Seamus will do great once he starts speech therapy!

If it makes you feel better, Chris is over two and doesn't say a single word. He's seeing a specialist but I was told by them some kids don't talk until 3, some only say a few words and some talk up a storm. If he is talking even if just single words it's more than normal and until age 3 there's nothing to worry about.

He sounds totally normal and on track, no worries! I have a friend who is a speech pathologist and she said the milestone for age two is a twenty word vocabulary and the ability to form a simple sentence (she specifically said, "Simple sentences like "night night, mommy/daddy" or similar.").

I'm going through the same thing with my 2 kids. Taylor is VERY advanced for her age, like 3.5/4 year old level but I personally feel like Rylie is pretty slow but I've been told she's average. I just work with her the best I can but I do think about it a lot. It sounds like Landen is doing ok though

Landen is doing great! I used to be an early intervention teacher (quit after Liam was born) for kids aged birth to 3. I'd say the bulk of my caseload was speech delay. Landen is doing awesome, no worries!!!

From what I read 2 yr olds should put 2 words together and boys can be slower to learn to talk. It sounds to me like Landen is doing fine. The boys I've been around that are Oliver's age are like Landen with talking. If he is singing songs then it sounds like he is doing really well. Oliver doesn't sing songs yet. But he can talk in 4-7 word senetences. Oliver has been a talker and picked words up quickly from the beginning.
I'm sure you read to him and talk to him often which helps with their learning to talk.

That is what I was going to say. I obviously have no experience, but I have a neice and a nephew that are both the exact same age (about a week apart) and my neice is soooooooo ahead of my nephew. They are 20 months old and my neice can put two words together already and pretty much communicate...she will copy any word you say to her, on the other hand my nephew only says a handful of words and doesnt mimic any words you say. Also, my neice goes to daycare and my nephew doesnt so im sure that plays a major role as well.
Landen sounds like he is doing just fine! He is a perfect little boy!

As long as the words he can say he uses and uses the right way you are ok. Now, if he is just repeating words----like if you say, "Say dog" and then he says dog..etc....THEN you'd have something to be concerned about. The repeating may be fine at his age, try to redirect him on to another word or whatever when he does that and see what happens

Boys do tend to be slower with speech and other skills but in the end we all catch up. The more you talk the more he will talk. Talk about what you're doing while you're doing it, read, sing songs, start to give him choices and try to have him repeat/vocalize his choice (banana or apple, etc.). Also, doing things like blowing bubbles can help his facial muscles develop to help him form words better.
I'm working on "L" pronounciation with both my boys right now. Strangers can have a hard time understanding them sometimes because they don't say their "L" sounds. They can physically say it, I have to keep reminding them to use their "L's" though.

I always compare too even though I shouldn't!!!!! Cambria is the same way. And half the time she baby talks! lol. She doesn't say a lot of sentences but know's a lot of words. My peid said it was fine as long as we know what she's saying and she is talking enough. Just some kid's are further along then other's.
