Ours was at 20 weeks... but we paid to have one done at 16w6d b/c DH couldn't go to the one @ 20w. We went to like a 'novelty' shop for a 3D one... the 20w was in the Dr office and was the only ultrasound I got.

Ugh that is annoying!!! Is there a place around you that you can pay for??? I found out Landen was a boy a little before 15 weeks!!! I got a 3D u/s each time because I think my doctor wanted to suck the life out of my free military insurance lol!

My OB wasn't going to do mine until 20 weeks but I paid to have one done at 16 weeks. When my sister was pregnant (she lives in Seattle) she wanted to pay to have one done early too, but none of the ultrasound places would do it that early! I even helped her call around. Even the 3D/4D places wouldn't do it until after 18 weeks. Weird, since most places in CA will do them starting at 16 weeks.

Only just recently can you actually find out at an ultra sound. Before it was not allowed (due to certain people choosing to abort certain gendered babies). We get that u/s between 18 and 20 weeks I believe.

I was almost 21weeks with Seamus and I was 19.5weeks with Kieran. I think the ones that get it sooner are ones that pay for it(extra).
I even had u/s with both kids between 13 and 16weeks and at each of those u/s they refused to tell me what it was saying it was still too early to tell for sure (more of a "failure" guess rate doing it before 20weeks)

Ours has always had to be at our anatomy scan between 18 and 20 weeks. When I'd go in for my 13 weeks u/s they'd take a guess and I'd guess based on the nub theory and was always right

I had an u/s at 16 but that was to check for any remaining cysts from IVF. However we did sneak a peak at the baby I got my anatomy scan at 20w

I found out with the boys at their anatomy scans--18weeks 2 days with Liam and 19weeks 2 days with Lochy.

We found out with Lila at 16 weeks because I paid for a private one at a 3d/4d place. It was the only one near me that would do it that early, most made you wait til 18 weeks. We also passed on the anatomy scan with her though so I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't paid for a private one.

Most doctors like to wait until after 16 weeks... I had mine at 17 weeks 6days.. I think the norm is anywhere from 18-20 weeks..

do you think it's worth it? They may not be able to see anything.

ETA- i didn't want to sound super negative. I just don't want you to be disappointed. Elective ultrasounds are expensive, and baby doesn't always cooperate. Especially when their parts are still so undeveloped. Even at 21 weeks, it took 3 ultrasounds to see anything. My elective U/S place wouldn't even do an ultrasound before i had anatomic scan. And I had to provide proof of this. Glad i bought it though... we still havn't seen his "johnson" at the doctor's office, even with all the do-overs.

I paid to have one done somewhere between 15-16 weeks with Ash and the only reason I found out she was a girl was because I could read the u/s myself. They wouldn't tell me because it was too early. I would try to just be patient and wait it out!

The accuracy of determining sex is lower before 19 weeks. I would just wait, It would suck to be told one thing and paid a ton for it only to have it change a few weeks later! this will be good patience practice for the end of your pregnancy lol
I think I was like 24-26 weeks (by choice), it was offered at 20 weeks though.
Most countries they will not tell you the sex because of "selections" parents make.... the USA is "Discussing" doing this since they ARE noticing ithe issue!

We paid to have Henry's at 18 weeks. Otherwise my doc does it at 22-23 weeks. Due to lack of funds, we'll be waiting until 22 weeks this time
