I figured if my intentions are to get pregnant, i should probably be taking a prenatal... for both of my boys i just took the One Source prenatals because they weren't huge and they were the only ones that didn't make me sick... but now I can't seem to find them... what have you all used?? how big? how did you feel after taking them??

I took women's oneaday. then switched to the target equivalent (cheaper)
They can be rough though, they come with a fish oil... and sometimes i burp and can taste it. Not great when you are pregnant.
When i was TTC i just took a children's vitamin.

I take the generic cvs prenatal. We arent pregnant yet, but when I brought them into my dr she agreed they would be fine because they had all the required vitamins.

I take SISU Multi Expecting. I really like it because you have to take two a day, it's not ultra compacted (like one a days) and gets more easily absorbed (apparently!). i think they might be a canadian product though...

I've always taken materna (I believe that's what it's called). They were okay, sometimes didn't make me feel all that great. They are pretty big though!

Thanks for all the input... I live in a small city so I don't have half the stores many of you have... closest target or cvs is a half hour away... for some reason I couldn't find a prenatal in the walmart brand, I'll have to look harder, or check out one of our drug stores for their brand... I did buy the Nature Made soft gel prenatal while I was out at the store... choked one down tonight but they are ssooo big!! I think for something that big, I need it to be coated so it slides down easier... I always feel like pills get stuck in my throat, even pills as tiny as bc pills! For those of you taking a store brand, are yours coated at all?

Have to watch out with gummi vites though. They do not contain enough folic acid or any iron. I take them when i'm feeling ill. But i suppletment with a folic acid and iron pill.

mainly Omega 3 (linolenic acid) is what you want.....you don't want extra Omega 6 (linoleic acid) because we already get way too much of it in our diet. When they put Omega 6 on the label (& in the product) its mainly just a gimmick to get people who dont know about omega 6 to buy the product.

I can't remember the brands but I tried about 3/4 different brands because the pills were so huge.

SISU pills are not huge either! If you can find a non compressed capsule (ie not tablet) they will be smaller, but you'll probably need to take two.

When I was TTC, I just took folic acid and B6. My doctor prescribed something called PregVit Folic5, which seems to be what most pregnant women take here because all of my pregnant friends are on it. It is two different pills and you take one in the morning and one in the evening.
