I don't have the energy for all this decorating! This will be Henry's new room (currently Ed's office and catch all for most of his crap).

I'm hoping we can finish it so he can start sleeping in there this January. We need to buy a new convertible crib, dresser, and whatever other furniture. My dad offered to paint the room, which is awesome considering Ed won't be home much. I have no theme ideas. No color ideas. It's a very small room so I need to make the most of the space.

Any suggestions?

Check IKEA's website for ideas. And google toddler room pics or something similar and browse through the results. That's how I came up with Gemma and Ashlyn's room. Also, I'm not a big fan of themes. Gemma's first nursery and big girl room were Whinney the Pooh and she outgrew it too quickly. Then when we moved here Shane painted a My Little Pony on her door and kind of made MLP and Disney Princesses the theme. It got old really fast. That's when I decided to do half orange and half green and get wall clings instead of paint murals/pictures so they can be changed easily. I also went with polka dot bedding for both girls beds so they can continue to use it as tweens/teens if they so desire. Hope that helps!

I agree with Sara - don't do a theme for a little one if you don't want to have to change it soon. We did a sports theme in Harrison's big brother room and it'll work for him for many many years...yet it looked cute enough for a (then) two- three year old. The pictures in there now are disney sports pics and a bugs bunny baseball pic.....when he's older we can change the pictures to more grown up boy sports pics - like real life sports guys and stuff without changing the whole room! So good themes like that are shown in like pottery barn, the company store for kids, and Land of Nod.....sports, dinosaurs, space, cowboys - stuff like that will last for more years than other things like a specific character or trucks/trains etc. Good luck!

Yeah I definitely think you're right about the theme being too specific. We hope to move in the next yr or 2 but if we don't, I don't want to have to change the room AGAIN.

Maybe just some bold primary colors?

What sites do you guys recommend for those wall clings? And how well do they stay on? I'm worried about him peeling them off himself.

Just want to say GOOD LUCK. We have a room that looks like that with mostly Dh's stuff. We call it the junk room, LOL. We're trying to clean ours out as well, b/c eventually we'll want the space plus the disorganization drives me nuts, hah.

Anyway, I agree with no character stuff. If anything, a very general theme, like others have mentioned, anything that doesn't seem too "baby-ish". I think Angela L's jungle theme in Landen's room is adorable! Just depends on what you like. If you did whatever colors plus the wall decals, then you could always just peel the wall decals off and start over with something new if you got tired of it. I used them for Matthew's room and I put them high enough up that he can't reach them. I'm sure you have seen the pictures of his nursery? They are kind of above his crib and dressers.

I mixed and matched from two different sets. I got them both off Amazon. Amazon.com: Eddie Bauer Enchanted Hollow Wall Decals - Brown: Baby
Amazon.com: Lambs and Ivy Enchanted Forest Wall Appliques, Green: Baby

If they are stuck on there really well I think they'd be hard to peel off, but it just depends on how determined your child is.

I love what I did for the boys room....

I can switch it up any time. The black border is just a stick on, the yellow lines are just post it notes. The clouds are wall clings (I bought them at a store similar to Walmart). It's just green and blue. I can switch it up to any sorta theme.. even make it girly if my next is a girl and I have the boys in other rooms. Horses, sports etc etc. It's just fun. I like painting something that works with lots of stuff and then using the wall clings. I LOVE wall clings! You can get anything too. You can search them on BabiesRus or target and see what they have to offer. I can't wait to decorate the baby's nursery

I love all Pottery Barn Bedding. A lot of it works for toddlers and big boys so it will last for years. If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you passing down Henry's crib/dressor and getting a twin or full for Henry? That is most likly what I'd do.

Our 3rd bedroom is Damon's computer/hobby room. I have no idea what we will do with all the stuff in there once we need both rooms for our LO's.

this is the girls' room. We left the My Little Pony on the door because it will be easy to cover up later.

Gemma hasn't been able to get the wall clings off so I'm not too worried about Ash being able to. We only have them on the upper half of the wall anyway so they're hard to reach for the kids!

My favorite themes for a boy room are airplane room or train room. I'm not one for charactors. Oh.. PBK has awesome Dr. Seuss bedding on sale that is adorable.

Well Henry's current room, we are changing the theme but leaving all the matching crib and furniture for the new baby. Unfortunately, I don't think I can trust Henry in a toddler bed yet. He sleeps well, but he does alot of playing in his crib before he actually goes to sleep. I don't see him staying put all night. I feel silly getting a new crib (convertible) for a toddler but I think it will be for the best. And so far he's shown no idea on how to climb out

Ya we got a new crib for new baby. Dustin doesn't sleep well, he doesn't go down well and doesn't sleep well.... he's just not ready for a toddler bed. Plus this way I got a nice new white crib and changing table just for baby which I love!

I forgot he is younger and not closer to Oliver's age. At least with a convertable it will be used for years to come.

we are going to do a non character theme in our baby's room. our baby room is also really small, but the closet is about 1/3 the size of the one in the room you show! we are getting all ikea furniture i believe then i think my plan is to get a converitble cosleeper/bassinet/playpen type thing for the first 3 mos then get the matching crib to go with the ikea stuff. our walls will likely be a neutral colour, and the furniture a natural wood or white, havent decided.

Ditto on the wall clings... I have a sports theme in my boys room, and like everyone else, only have them on the top half of the wall... I used the smaller ones to border the tops of the windows and door, put a baseball on each ceiling fan blade, and loved that I could even use them to make the plain white shelf match the rest of the room. I personally love to change the way the room looks, so the clings are cheap enough and simple enough where I wouldn't mind peeling them off and changing them in a few years when the boys want. Good Luck and have fun!

IKEA has great stuff. I like to run to HGTV website or just browse images through google when I'm looking for ideas.

Good luck!!

For A.J, we never did a nursery theme. His room is still normal looking.. But I plan on doing primary colors, like blue. I'm leaning towards a space theme or a foot ball theme. But we found this cool ceiling fan for my son's room.. Maybe you will like it..
