After talking it over an thinking about it, I just don't feel safe taking the Lysteda....it is to make blood clot. I have had 1 uncle, 3 aunts, 2 cousins and my grandmother all on the same side of family with clot disorders. Not worth the risk. Gyno is just gonna have to figure something else out!
Nurses: Would a D&C help stop the bleeding?

I'm sorry. I've never heard of Lysteda and really know very little about gynecology.

D&C can... depending on the WHY your bleeding. And I haven't heard of that drug either.

it was just approved Nov 2009. The iv drug that is given during surgery to stop bleeding...starts with C....this is a new oral form of that. THAT is why I'm afraid to take it! They give it to young girls who have heavy bleeding who parents dont want them on BCP is what the nurse told me. Either way, it has a high risk for creating blood clots in limbs, lungs and retina.....I don't wanna take it! But I also don't wanna bleed to death either. I started spotting mid July here and there, then Aug 4th began bleeding heavy and I've not stopped! I had a 10hr break and that's it!

WOOOHOOOO The aleve is working!!!!!!! NSAID's are said to be really helpful in stopping excessive menstrual bleeding. Aleve worked before and I have taken it for 2 days now-1 each day-and the bleeding is just barely there now!!!! this is so very exciting for me! I'm going to call the gyno again tomorrow, inform them of the aleve and the changes and see if I can just take this for a few more days, see if it stops it and then see if he can do something to see if there's a reason other than PCOS causing it.

No info on that drug, sorry. Are you anemic from this bleeding? It seems like more then heavy cycle related bleeding, since you are pretty much bleeding all month. I'm surprised they haven't recommended a hysterectomy....not to say you need one. But if you can't take BCPs or this new drug, and you become symptomatic from the anemia, not sure they are many other options out there. Hope the NSAIDS cont to work well

Yeah he wants to do a hysterectomy, but I've held it off since my ovary does actually work...sometimes. I want 1 more, and he knows this. He's waiting on me to make the call unless it becomes dangerous. I hate to have it all taken out when I think there has got to be other alternatives to prolong it and give me the chance to have another. I don't want Brayden being an only child. The bleeding is a hormonal thing, they had to give me provera to start it then it wouldn't stop. The aleve works wonders for making it stop....it reduces prostaglandin levels which causes the bleeding to reduce. I wasn't anemic 2 wks ago, but I bled a lot since then. I take Iron and eat an iron rich diet when I bleed a lot. I was getting short of breath and feeling very tired at the end of the week into the weekend so I figure I'm slightly anemic now (with white nail beds) but I'm feeling a lot better now.

The chiz on Lysteda (chiz I love that word LOL) Lysteda has been used for years he said in Europe. he said that I myself have never had an issue with blood clots so he feels this is quite safe for me, and I've also had a work up done with a hematologist who found no blood disorders. He said no to a D&C and said to try this first.
