If I remember right you had to eliminate a lot from your diet because Matthew had reactions. I think Ash and I are in the same boat. She has green poo and she is spitting up both formula and my milk. I'm guessing it's a dairy protein intolerance. Can you help me out with foods to avoid or things that worked for you? Thanks!

Sorry you think she is having dairy allergies.

Matthew had green poop for a bit, but the main thing was mucus in his poop. Green poops can also be a sign of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, so you might look into info on that too.

I cut out all dairy, including traces of dairy. You can drink soy milk, but a lot of babies with dairy protein intolerance have soy protein intolerance as well. I drank hemp milk, you can also use rice milk or almond milk, though those don't have a lot of fat.

For butter, it is really hard to find any that doesn't have dairy, but they have some at Whole Foods.

Cheese and yogurt you are just out of luck.

The best thing you can do is avoid pre-packaged foods, as many of them have dairy. Check your breads, many don't have dairy so that shouldn't be too hard. Avocados have good fat, I ate lots of eggs, and meat of course. Then any fruits, veggies, oatmeals. Get some good seasonings if you are like me and used to cheese then you can use the seasonings instead for your meat and veggies.

Oh and nuts are good too! I cut them out as well since I thought they might be an issue, but in hindsight I don't think they were.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks! I tried everything for a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance and nothing has helped. Even when we were giving formula more than nursing she still had green poo so I think it's a dairy thing.

I'm trying soy milk this week to see if it helps. If she still has issues I will look for one of the other kinds. I almost bought almond milk but I was afraid it would be an issue since it's a tree nut. Maybe I will try it next time. I don't like butter so that's easy for me to give up. Yogurt and cheese is a little harder but that's okay. I'm trying to lose the rest of my baby weight so no prepackaged foods sounds like a good way to accomplish cutting dairy and losing some weight.

You gave up chocolate too right? Is that because of the dairy in it? I really love my fudge and chocolate and I'm not looking forward to giving those up completely. I can't really think of anything else I'm not willing to give up right now but I'm sure things will arise that I'll have questions about over the next couple weeks.

I gave up nuts cause that was one of the things suggested but like I said I dont think it was an issue. But the safer bet is rice milk or hemp milk if the soy isn't good for her.

Yes, I gave up chocolate because of the dairy. I *think* there may be some chocolate that doesn't have dairy, like really dark chocolate. But you might want to look into that or really read labels because I am not sure. You can get carob chips from Whole Foods they taste kinda like chocolate. Read labels though, some have dairy in them. You can make cookies with them or eat plain and i guess it is better than nothing.

Hang in there! Matthew still can't eat dairy (he did for a few months then got diarrhea/mucus poops) but I'm BFing him and I can eat it now without him having problems.

It is absolutely a great way to lose weight, I have lost too much actually.

Thanks! DH didn't buy into the whole idea of dairy giving her problems so he gave her formula last night. All she did was scream and cry. She was super gassy too. I made him stay up with her since it was his fault. I think he believes me now!
