Well. What a whirlwind of a summer we had, which has now come to an end. I have myself a walking, kinda talking, toddler.
We managed to get J.J off formula and onto lactaid whole milk 100% with no "runny" problems. We have also been able to give him yogurt finally without any "runny" consistences. The formula was making him super congested -- we don't know why or what and are confused -- but we made a successful transition and that's all that matters. Costs much less than formula.
After 13.5 months, I also finally have a baby who will hold his own bottle. Thank goodness. He refuses milk from a sippy and will only drink juice from it. Stubborn!
During the last 2-3 weeks, we noticed his reflux was acting up again -- so we were told to also give Zantac at night, Prilosec in the morning. Well, turns out, the prilosec he was on was also doing him no good -- actually making things worse (we decided to take him off it to see what would happen.) so we are keeping him on the Zantac 2x per day for the time being. We are being sent to a pedatric gastroenterologist because the ENT is not able to get it under control. She says he has the worst case of acid reflux (she is now calling it GERD) she has ever seen in someone so young. *sigh* She said she has always been able to control even the most difficult cases, but this, she said, she has run out of options with.
With all the sickness we battled this summer (Coxsackie, Ear infection & Official confirmed Mono[what 1 year old gets mono!?]), we are finally getting to finish up the rest of his blood testing -- finishing his allergy testing and his immune system function tests (which was at MY request because even a "day care baby" should NOT be getting sick as much as J.J does). We also had his adenoids evaluated. We will find out at the end of this month if we are removing adenoids/tonsils and putting in tubes. We also suspect he will need an upper GI series to see exactly how bad his reflux is. The ENT suspects that he is refluxing so much, it is what is causing his almost chronic congestion and coughing (meaning, its going all the way up when he sleeps at night). He does better during the day (no congestion/very little coughing). My poor baby
As for me -- as you all saw, I was diagnosed with POTS last month (low blood pressure that causes problems like dizziness/passing out). I managed to increase my BP from 85/55 to 108/68! So, I have not been dizzy for the last month. It's been great! Increasing my salts really helped. However, I am still having terrible headaches so I am being sent to a neurologist and for a nerve conduction test. Doctor thinks that my car accident from 5 years ago did more damage to my neck then people realize which is why I am always in pain -- he thinks my neck is very, very messed up. In the mean time, he gave me a bunch of pills for my neck pain and headaches. I just have to be careful because all 3 meds are incredibly habit forming. So I am finally living almost pain free
As for our FET, we have it planned for March/April -- however it is indefinitely on hold. Our marriage has not faired too well this summer and we are struggling to stay afloat. We are not sure what we are going to do at the current point in time, right now we are just living each day as argumentative free as we can (read as: we fight daily, over everything) and are just trying to support our son and figure out everything that's wrong with him so we can make him better. Not sure what the end result is going to be here.
That is all
