We are after getting Mia a new car seat.

She is 28lb and is 3 at the end of the month....What kind of car seat would you recommend?

We currently have the britax prince. She is starting to get too small for it. I want to change it before she gets too big for it and we cant afford it and shes driving around in a car seat she is too small for.

I would like to continue with a 5 point harness for as long as possible.... DH on the other hand dose not think it would be a problem to put her in a booster seat and use a normal 3 point harness(I wont let this happen....I am standing my ground on this!)

So yeah....My question.... What would you recommend and why?

What weight does your Britax go up to? I have the Britax Marathon and Cambria LOVES It!! If I can remember it goes up to 40-50 pounds? I cant wait to get Baylen one but we'll wait till he's 1.

Britax Frontier is what I have, Brady is 5 and still in a 5pt harness. 5pt harness on it goes to 80pounds. We actually have 2 of these.

Ditto to the Britax Frontier! For a little one getting older and bigger this is an awesome seat as its not so babyish in its design but still very safe being a 5 point harness....Harrison loves his and hasn't once fussed about having to be in a carseat (he's 4 1/2). I got it because of all this plus it has one of the highest 5 point harness weight and height limits out there - which was not relevant really to my little guy (who still hasn't hit 35 pounds) but I thought hey why not!

Seamus is 47½lbs (21.6kg) and 42" (106.7cm) and is in his 5pt harness. We can't afford the Britax seats so we got a Graco Nautilus seat and its awesome. It can be used as a 5pt harness till 60lbs and then after that you can take the harness out and use it as a high back(ours even have no back, not sure about the UK version) booster till 80lbs.

I have two graco nautilus for the older boys. I love them. Curtis is almost 4 and he's in a 5pt harness and will be until he meets all the weight limitations of the nautilus.

Brayden has a nautilus too for his dad's truck. I prefer the fabric of it to the Frontier, but I prefer the frontier install, shape design and straps. The Graco has fixed cup holder and the frontier has them that slide in and out. The graco is more car seatish and the frontier is more "big kid"ish to me. As a regular booster I like it ok and very easy to convert. It was easy to get him in and out of both. I'd say the graco would be a very good alternative.

I use a Recaro Signo. I like it and it works really great and is comfy but I've never tried any other convertible seat so I can't do a comparison.

Another Recro Signo user.. Goes up to 70 lbs and you can adjust the height up to 50 inches. Also has great Side Impact protection..

I personally love Recaro because they've been making car seats (racing, etc) for over 100 years.. I'm also a car nut, so Recaro was my first choice.. When I found out they were making convertible car seats, I wanted one! Just the car junkie in me.. lol

Here's a video about the signo

I've only owned a Recaro and they way my kids are growing, this will be the only seat I'll need.. My kids are shorties.. lol

I should add I also had an Evenflo something or other for my aunts car (she was taking him to school and stuff for me for a while) it was roughly $70 and I HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is still basically brand new since he was in it only a handful of times and I took it out and threw it away!

He has a graco high back booster in my mom's car and it's ok. I like the style and seems safe but it isn't a 5pt harness and he can wiggle out to turn around to look so I don't like that at all. But if some one is in the back with him it's fine and super easy to get in and out of.

I might have a look at the Graco Nautilus in store and see if i can convince gary on it. I really like the look of it and the fact it has cup holders will save me constantly passing her juice
