I saw these two mums with little fresh babies out for lunch the other day and they were breastfeeding no problem, whippin the boobs out left and right and i thought it was just wonderful! i was so glad to see that local restaurants weren't giving them a hard time, and that they felt comfortable doing that. it made me kinda excited about BF next year

I never felt uncomfortable breastfeeding in public. It's very common here. I used to cover myself though or wear loose clothing so I could stash Amara under my shirt without bothering anyone. I know some people are uncomfortable with seeing it so I try to be thoughtful of them too.

I'm lucky I guess that I NEVER had an issue bf'ing in public. No one ever said anything, I only got encouragement.

I've only done it once so far and no one really seemed to notice. I've heard people say stuff to other women before though.

I have only seen people BFing in public a few times. Of those times they used a cover.

I tried to avoid it the best I could. More so out of embarassment of exposing my giant stretchy waisted maternity pants and my flabby post baby gut. I had a hard time using the cover too...I'm just not that coordinated. Now that we're both pros at BFing, Jenna is ultra distracted and there is no way she would BF in public. I'd end up exposing my boobs to the world as she pulls off for the 100th time to smile at people, play with my bra, hair, etc.

Awesome! I did it all the time and I never had anything said to me but I always chose eating places where I could sit in the back, or where I knew there would be lots of activity. I would always nurse before going into a store (like Target or something so I knew she wouldn't cry the whole way through ) and there were times I went out to my car but it was because it was awkward to try and nurse where I was LoL. I always just had a receiving blanket with me and whipped the boob out

I have never ever used a cover and I've nursed in just about every place I've been. Even while walking around. I've never exposed myself because I'm very self conscious about that and my gross belly. If I'm not wearing a nursing tank under my shirt then I use a receiving blanket kind of like an apron to make sure my belly is covered. Is it weird I'm way more concerned about people seeing that than my boob? lol

I've never had anyone say anything to me but I have gotten some dirty looks, especially when Lochy got older. Doesn't desuade me though. My baby's gotta eat and I'll feed them!

I don't use a cover but I you really can't see much. I actually felt embarrassed while in Brazil that I WASN'T full boob out! LOL All the other moms were doing it

I work in retail and I've actually been told by my boss that if we have a woman ask if she can use our washroom to nurse, to offer her our classroom which is much better for everyone involved. who wants to eat in a gross bathroom??

My most recent public BF experience was that I whipped them out in a park during a breast-cancer walkathon/awareness rally. LOL I figured no one would reject a boob in that situation!

I could never BF in public. I have no problem with others doing it, I'm just too shy to do it myself! That and Charlotte likes to pull off a lot and look around, unless she is sleepy. I wouldn't want to put a cover over her head. Plus DH wouldn't have it. We always BF in the truck in parking lots, and that's a stretch for him! It has plenty of room and a good a/c, so no big deal. We BFed in the truck at BRU, and a guy was walking around the parking lot through the cars, almost like he lost his car. DH SWORE he was roaming around looking for BFing mamas for a peak because it was BRU. Can we say paranoid?

Come to think of it I've never seen anyone BF in public...

that's funny krista about your dh!! mine is like suprisingly cool with BF mamas doing so in public. i think it helped that we hang out with friends of ours and she bf'ed her son till he was like at least two or three, so dh has seen that its really no big whoop. for some reason i think bf in public is a little less taboo in canada than the states too, especially where i live bc its so multicultural. i've seen a lady by my house walking her kid outside with another one in a sling bf'ing. i was just like 'you go girl', that is some multitasking! i do see people bf quite a lot around town here.
