I invested in Grobaby and BestBottom. I love the Grobaby, the sides on the top around the waist are elastic so they have a snug, comfortable fit, and the tabs feel stretchy. And they strap down with that stuff that isn't velcro but works like velcro except it sticks to any cloth, which I LOVE (don't know what it is called). But the one size is small and the velcro-like stuff wears out too quickly. The BestBottom are convenient with the snap in pad system they have and they don't bunch or anything, but they aren't stretchy at all so they don't give a good fit around the waist, and now that Charlotte is sitting up a bit, her little belly pudges out and the velcro comes undone.

So, here I am, looking at the fact that I have to buy a third full set of diapers. Frustrating. I want to get it right this time. Any suggestions? I prefer snap ins, but I don't know of any more snap ins other than the two I listed. I would like some elasticity around the waist with the stretchy tab feel. Charlotte is big for her age, so I want a OS that she can use for a while that won't wear out quickly.

Right now I'm looking at gDiapers and BumGenius (but am open to other suggestions). Anyone used one or both? Comments and opinions on the brands? Comments on going from snap ins to pockets?

Also, anyone CD while in daycare and eating solids? I'm thinking while she is in daycare she will have to be in disposables once she starts solids since I will then need to poop scoop, right? I don't think they will poop scoop at the daycare. Right now they just throw the soiled diaper into the wet bag, that's it.

Another question: Is the flip cover the same as the BG 4.0 cover?

Well I love my Flip system. I know others have and haven't, since it all depends on the kid and mommy I use it for AJ and Dustin. Poop does get on the cover at times but I usually hand wash them and hang them and it just dries on it's own. However that's not all that handy while at Daycare. Not to sure what to suggest for day care, other then maybe some disposable liners... they might be willing to just toss that and then bag the diaper for you.

I love my FuzziBunz but they are only in snaps. I know they range between 18-20. I think there is a sale on some of them for 14.95 right now. If you like those an "off brand" that is similar to them is the Kawaii's. They're like $7 a diaper and a lot of the mamas on the CD board give them awesome reviews. I love my flips too. they are the same thing as the Bumgenius without the liner between the baby and the insert. I like my rumparooz as well but they run on the small side similar to grobaby's/grovia's. They're a tad on the pricey side too so i only have a couple of them. I have a thirsties duo diaper that i bought to try. they have 2 one-size diapers to choose from. so far so good for us. I have several BG 3.0s and one 4.0 and i do have to say i love them. between them and fuzzibunz that's probably what i'd build a stash of but i do have several diapers i want to try but my wallet is not big enough LOL

ETA the flips do have a disposable insert that would probably be good for daycare. they would just have to wipe out the covers and put a new insert in until the next diaper change.

ok i dont know much about the diff brands but i wanted to tell u that my nephew is CD at daycare and my SIL just sends a little garbage pail with him and picks up the dirty diapers at the end of the day. she puts a disposable diaper liner in the diapers to catch the poop that the daycare people just have to throw out. it's working out great!

Gdiapers wear out fast IMO. I LOVED my BG!!!! the flaps have some elastic type stuff that makes it a snug fit.

have you thought of trying a diaper trial to try out a few different ones?!

I've gotten frustrated too. All my velcro failed on my Nubunz within 2-5 months of having them (we spent at least 100 bucks!). The only things we haven't tried yet are the prefolds and Thirsties covers for Seth once he's here. I decided I was going to buy ONE cover that fit Rylie, use all the old Nubunz inserts wrapped in fleece liners, and try that. If it works then that's what I'll stick with for now. I'm waiting on my order now. I feel like we wasted a ton of money and will only buy snaps from now on. We were going to buy Kawaii but I just don't feel confident in the off brands anymore and we REALLY don't have the money to go out and buy a stash full of bumGenius even though that's what I've wanted from the very beginning. Good luck!

LOVE BG and definitely prefer snaps over velcro! I'm sorry that you have had such a frustrating experience with cloth so far

BG Organics are my #1 favorite and then Fishdoodles AI2 which has a snap in. Both snap on rather than use velcor. I tried many different brands and styles. These worked best for us. Both diapers fit great, washed well, and were trim.

honestly I loved my prefolds and covers! So easy, throw everything in the wash, no inserts, no worries.

Thank you for your feedback! And I just thought I would add, mainly for the sake of those thinking about using CDs for the first time in the future -- I do love my CDs. I'm just frustrated because I wish I would have found the right brand to begin with. I would CD over disposables any day (jmo and what is right for our family).
