So with the new house, I thought the contractor was gonna put flooring over the bottom landing and bottom set of steps. That's what I told the main one. Well, he isn't the one building it and the other guys weren't familiar with that style or idea so they didn't put the flooring down so it's all open. That took away my 1/2 bath but it allows for a grander staircase. But now the only bathroom upstairs is in the master bedroom.

oooo...ummm...Id really have them sit down for a few and figure out how to fix this problem! You wanted it, they should be able to provide it! I dont like the idea of having the only bathroom upstairs the master bath. Are all the bedrooms upstairs?

I would halt work until you can get someone to get that bathroom in there!

Well I talked to them and they said they had talked about doing that, but there's not enough room even if they do cover the first set. I wasn't sure how much room would be there. Yeah, all the bedroom are upstairs. I'm thinking that at some point I could jsut put in small 1/2 baths in the bedrooms when Brayden gets old enough. There would be room I think.

I would tell them to find a way. It's not cool to just have the one bathroom upstairs in the master. Perhaps someway, somehow they could add one. What about another location in the house. It doesn't need to have a ton of space. I have a tiny 1/2 bath under my stairs. I don't know how your building codes are so I don't know if it will work for you.

I'm not sure if these photos will help much since the bathroom is so small I can't take a full pic of it but this is how tiny my 1/2 bathroom is.

The stairway with the door to the bathroom on the side

The toilet on one end

The sink opposite it on the other

ETA: Mari, I think my butt would be too big to use that restroom how wide is it?

Oh I'll have a full bath downstairs too. I'm going over the plans again to see if I squeeze one somewhere

Oh...didn't know a full bath was downstairs. Thought you only had the full bath in the master and wanted a 1/2 bath. That's not too bad then.

Beth, you crack me up. I'll have to measure it for you but I really just needed something downstairs that guests could access without having to go upstairs and that was the only place we could squeeze it in. It was on our plans as a storage area.

yeah I just wanted up there one for Brady to use or a guest. But if that became an issue I could always just elongate the closet and toss in a toilet and pedestal sink.

The issue I see is resale value. Someone looking to purchase the house may not understand why there isn't atleast a 1/2 bath upstairs ( as well as the ensuite ). I would for sure look into working a 1/2 bath in there asap!
