Does anyone know if doctors can use Prostaglandin Gels to induce labor after your water has already broken?

Or would that increase the risk for infection?

Here in Sweden they will not use it after the water has been broken, they would use the drip if it's still needed due to risk of infections and other complications. I'm guessing it should be the same over there as well.

Once your water is broken, you cannot use Cervidil. There is an increased risk of uterine hyper stimulation which could lead to uterine rupture.

Just me. I wasn't pleased with how my induction was handled and I'm looking for more education.

They used Prepadil (sp?) on me but only because my water wasn't broken. I would have needed pit if contractions hadn't started on their own IF my water broke.

you should ask them if you can go into labor on your own this time, seeing as you had an induction last time (as long as your doing ok..) Ive seen where mom's get induced with the first, and go into labor on their own naturally the 2nd time around...

Well my water broke @ midnight and there were still no contractions by 7am. So that's why I was given the pit.

ohh ok. Yeah if your water breaks on its own this time around - WALK LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW!!! the water's can be broken for longer than 24 hours, they just want you out and done with before then, so thats why they jack up the pitocen. could be too that you were having painless contractions, and you just didnt know it...ones that couldnt be picked up by the monitor. Kinda strange for your body to not go into labor when your water breaks....

Good for you for researching before you deliver
