Oliver LOVES vacuuming with our dyson at home. He does it almost every day and would do it all day long if I let him. He also has loved my blow dryer for over a year now. These are his two favorite "toys". He won't play with "real" toys unless I sit with him and get him into them. We were at PBK yesterday and he spotted a pink mini dyson toy vacuum and started to vacuum the store and didn't want to leave. He said he wants santa to bring him a pink vacuum for Christmas. I figured he would not like a fake vacuum since it's not real but he seemed into it yesterday. I found a yellow play dyson online but he said he wants the pink one. haha.. PBK also has a pink play blowdryer that comes with rollers and a brush. I think he would like that too. Oh and he picked out a pink baby bjorn potty chair when we went to BRU a few weeks ago. haha.. His favorite color is blue though. Anyways.. I don't see anything wrong with it. I just kind of think it's funny that his Christmas gifts might end up being more girly. I was going to get him a train to go on his play table but I'm thinking of holding off until next Christmas since he isn't into the play trains yet. If only he was into baby dolls. I'd love to get him a cute doll but he would run from it!

Any other boy moms get girly toys?

I had brayden a red vacuum. And I think you can find a different color hair dryer too if you wanted. The pink, I dunno....it would have bothered Brady's dad a lot lol. I wanted to get him a Dora quad for his 1st Christmas and EVERYONE (family, friends, JM friends, etc.) was on to me so much over it I put it back because it was girly. But he really liked dora.

I do! For Lochy's birthday a couple months ago he got a baby doll that could go in the bath with him, a pink bath tub with all the accessories, a pink and black doll stroller, and another outfit for his baby. He has 2 baby dolls he loves and plays with and wants another for Christmas--one that closes its eyes. We also got the boys a couple years ago for Christmas the big pink Fisher Price Loving Family Doll House--they love it! They played with it all the time at the library so we got them one.

I see nothing wrong with buying a boy something thats pink, or "girly." We get them what they want to play with. Trust me, we have more than our share of trains, trucks, cars, airplanes, and other such "boy" toys. I figure I wouldn't tell my daughter she can't have a truck for Christmas so why would I tell my son he can't have a doll, or vacuum, or hair dryer? I say get what he loves to play with and if he specifically asks for a certain color (no matter what it is) I'd get it. Lochy also nurses his baby dolls, I think its sweet that he's so nurturing and caring at such a young age because he certainly is as rough and tumble as they come--its nice for me to see the contrast in him.

Oh, Lochy also wants this Rapunzel doll that you do her hair or something, he just goes nuts when he sees the commerical. I haven't seen it at the store so he might not be getting that one. Liam is almost 5 and he plays with that stuff too and he's always playing house with his friends at school.

This is timely!

I want to get Matthew a kitchen but Dh says no. He normally isn't chauvenist but he says it's for girls, and that it will take up too much room and that he doesn't think Matthew will be that interested in it. (So his reason isn't totally that it's a "girl" toy but that's part of it.) I think matthew is going to get more into pretend play soon so I really want to get him one I found on craigslist that is a great deal. It's not even pink.

I got Matthew a doll (happened to be a boy one) at a garage sale the other day for 50 cents. He hasn't shown any interest in it but I wanted it to introduce the idea of a baby doll since I plan to have another baby. Dh can't complain about it b/c it was so cheap he wasn't consulted!

Hopefully when Matthew is old enough to express an opinion about what he wants, Dh will be more reasonable. Funny enough Matthew seems to love the vacuum too, he chases after me when I use it and laughs.

But mostly he just loves pushing toys cars or anythign with wheels right now.

Seamus had a doll when he was younger (it was kint, it was Mr. Fred) and he loved that thing. He also has a vacuum that he's had since before he was 2 and still plays with it. As long as its not barbies (dh would freak) then I really don't care what he has. He even playes with Kierans necklaces and he got some doll clothes from a review/giveaway I have on my blog (GO enter for your kiddos too! Very very few entries!).

Oliver got a play kitchen for his bday. I don't see that being a girl type toy at all. It's very neutral. Kids love to pretend play and do what mommy and daddy do. I hope you can talk you hubby into the kitchen! My DH is okay with it but isn't thrilled with the color pink for Oliver. But he is willing to go with it since it's something Oliver wants.

Oh and you should remind your DH that there are many famous male chefs.

I'm fairly okay with whatever. Most of the boys interests are "boyish" however there are things that they have shown a big interest for that were considered girly.

I think James would prefer the items to atleast be boyish colored. I'm thinking he wouldn't want pink/purple toys. I have bought Dustin a broom (it was his gift from AJ hehe) and it was blue/red/yellow and he LOVED it. If my boys were in to kitchen type things I would hesitate to buy them a kitchen! But like I said I would tend to stick to more boyish coloring HOWEVER if they were really wanting a pink one or something I would have a hard time saying no I don't think it's THAT big of a deal.

Dustin has a new interest in a little stuffed Ducky. It's his baby and he takes it every where. He's been playing with it for three days straight so far. He calls it baby and it needs to be burped, swaddled, fed, etc etc. We go along with it and love on it with him it gets hugs and kisses before bedtime and night time etc etc. I think it's adorable and so does James Doesn't bother us a bit!

We bought Seamus a kitchen for his birthday and he loves it. Tons of Chef's are male, Chef Ramsey for instance, and look at all the shows on tv.

My Dh even cooks! So I really don't see it as any big thing. I was suprised that he had a problem with it. And I tried to get my MIL on my side today while we were out shopping and she didn't come right out and say it, but acted like she thought kitchens were girl toys too.

If I cant convince him for Christmas, I will work on it and maybe he can get one for his bday in April!

I don't see any issue with it. Harper can play with whatever she likes.

My brother had a kitchen when he was a kid and now he's an awesome cook!

I also don't see the kitchen as a girl toy but for both. We got Chris one last year because he loves to cook.

Chris loves girly things and his favorite color is pink. We was thinking of getting him a play Iron and ironing board this year but that's up in the air right now. My in-laws hate that we get him so much "girly" things (Like the kitchen they think) so my SIL got him a Tool Box last year and he didn't care for it, only the hammer which we had to take away because he was hitting everything and everyone. Personally I'd rather him have cleaning and cooking things less violent.

We got Lochy a kitchen for his first birthday and both the boys loved it! It's in storage right now simply because we don't have the room for it at the moment but they loved cooking things for me when we had it out. It was neutral in color. But at his party, dh's little cousin asked what the big box was so I told her it was a kitchen set. She told her dad and he said "No it's not, that's a girl toy!" So I know a lot of people think of a kitchen as a girl toy but I see it as neutral. We always had one growing up and with my Mom's daycare and all the kids played with it all the time.

We also have a vacuum and at one point had a broom, and other cleaning things (don't know what happened to them) when Liam was little (still have the vacuum) and they always got great fun out of them!

Henry will be getting a doll baby for Christmas or shortly after. I'm thinking he may like having a baby to take care of when his brother gets here. I'm just trying to find the right one. I want something simple but that he can feed the bottle and change a cloth diaper.

J.J owns the red vacuum as well. He loves it. He plays with the kitchen at day care all the time. If we had the space, we would get him one. I have no problem getting him "girl" toys at all.

I dont see anything wrong with Pink toys or girly toys for boys. But Im Sure David would be like"Umm, no". But whatever. Cambria has a lot of Trucks and Cars and would rather play with those then anything.

LOL that is too cute! I never tell Landen no to things because its "girly". I just want him to be himself. Landen is into cars, trains, bugs and balls, but he also likes to play with his kitchen and feed his stuffed bears and cats!!

My DH cooks more than I do! I hate how play kitchens are "for girls". I got Nolan the baby version - the laugh and learn kitchen - for Christmas, only because he is too young for my old play kitchen. I can't wait for him to play with it and soon he will be "helping" daddy cook in the real kitchen too.

I think if Nolan really wanted something I would get it for him...DH might not like it but what does it really matter?
