so maybe i'm just a raging hormonal psycho but i thought the L&D at my hospital was so brutal! the rooms were like 1/3 the size of the rooms my SIL had at the hospital she gave birth at & the post partum room were shared (SIL had private w shared bathroom only). my dh said he got a good vibe off the place and everyone seemed really cheerful though. so thats a positive. it's not the worst thing going, and i'm sure it will do. i just expected so much more from a hospital with such a good reputation. i thought it was kinda dirty and messy too...i'm sure i wont care if i end up there giving birth though. seeing it has def made me want to set things up fully for a home birth though, cause i'd prefer to avoid it. but if privacy is an issue at home (as i suspect it might be), i'm fine with heading to the hospital still.

I felt the same way about the hospital that is just down the road from my house. Luckily DF feels the same way - it was small, dirty and totally not what I thought. I really hope your DH comes around to the idea of a home birth.

luckily dh seems really fine with the plan of starting it off at home and if it's going well then just staying here.

I'm sorry you're not totally sold on the hospital. I labored, delivered, and recovered in the same private room all 3 kids (2 different hospitals) so I'm unfamiliar with that style. My mom did have shared rooms year ago though. Hopefully your DH will come around to the idea of a home birth. I know that if we ever have another child (hopefully not, I feel done LoL) we're seriously considering a home birth and already have a few midwives in mind.

I hated that system with Curtis. I had to recover with four to five different woman and some of them had lost babies, some were on bed rest and one was a new teenage mom who NEVER tended to her baby and we all just had to sleep while her baby cried.... I felt HORRIBLE if Curtis made a peep cause I wouldn't want to be recovering from losing a child and hear someone elses baby cry....

Anyways.. that was just my experience. It was packed. We really wanted a private room but it was SO busy.

With Dustin and AJ, I first when to triage or whatever but then they sent me to my room and I labored, delivered, and recovered right there. It was WONDERFUL!

Well hopefully it wont be an issue at all and your home birth goes fab
