I thought he had a hurt leg.....he was limping and holding it up on Thanksgiving. Sam mentioned it could be a sprain and to take him to the vet...but I didn't have the spare $100 to do that (vet 40, xray 75) so I thought I could help him and let him rest it and keep him off it. He didn't act as if he was in pain. Well i told my mom today that overnight his paw had doubled in size and was oh so swollen. So she made him an appt. and said she and my step dad would cover the cost. I tookhim in, he wasn't a happy camper in the carrier, and they were shocked when they saw his paw! Actually they were shocked when they saw the whole size of him lol. But he must have gotten into a fight with something-----he has a broken tail but it's an old break, his paw was bit all the way through, he had a gash on his chest that i hadn't seen, minor scrapes on his head and body, and his paw was full on infection! No fever and that was great! So....they had to do surgery. they cut open his little paw, inserted a drain and drained the infection, gave him an iv, tested him for FIV and fe-luke, and also neutered him. The surgeries plus meds= $350! WOW! Buthe made it thru just fine and he tested neg for the others. The vet complimented me on such a well behaved kitty and said it was obvious he was well cared for.

I asked about the amount of food he and the other eats asking if it was normal. She said that he wasn't overweight at all----actually I think they said he weighed 9 pounds? But he HAS to weigh more he is heavy! Anyway I told her I had changed their food to an all meat food to trya nd reduce shedding and she said it was obvious it was working....he hadn't shed hardly any at all even though he was quite stressed! Stress makes them shed more. She said that he was very very healthy and the all meat food was best (not by products or corn meal) so that made me feel like a good kitty mama! She said to limit the amount of canned food they get, but when I told her it too was all meat based and only 1 4oz can shared between them she said that was totally fine and wouldn't hurt a thing.

I asked if it was a good idea to have both of them together since the do fight some and she said it was great for them. Then she looked at me funny when I admitted they'd have their own room in the new house if I can get away with it lol.

I'll be taking Waldo in about a month to be neutered as well.
