Sunday I woke up to a text message from my coworker saying she was in the hospital and needed our managers phone number because she would be out on Monday. I didn't think anything of it, because she seemed "normal" and it didnt seem urgent. She'd had a cold and so I thought it was something to do with that. I was wrong. I went into work today and my manager pulled us all aside and with my cowokers permission told us that she was still in the hospital, and would be there at least until Wednesday.
Later this afternoon my manager came downstairs and told us that it was a serious infection and that she is going to be out at least until next week. She has cellulitis, which is a tissue infection and can be extremely serious. In her case its worse, its orbital cellulitis which means its her eye socket. Luckily they caught it in time and they are hoping she will make a full recovery without loss of sight. The drs in our department handle cellulitis almost weekly so we all know about it.
It gets worse.. she is a 23 year old single mother to a 5 year old little girl. Her daughter is terrified because her mommy looks "scary" and she has no idea what is going on. If you could all please just keep my coworker and her daughter in your T's & P's it would be greatly appreciated.
