What holiday traditions do you have? Are there any that you started when you had kids or any that you plan to start when you have kids? If so what are they?

I always try to donate to a charity. Normally St. judes. We bake a lot of cookies , make crafty stuff, sing songs, watch Christmas movies, and read Christmas books all through the month.

We add a new ornament to the tree every year. Not the typical balls but one that represents another christmas.

I also go to church with my family and all my siblings, nieces and nephews spend the first half of the day at my parent's home where we have breakfast and open gifts. In the even, DH and I go and spend the day at his parents' family friend's home.

I also donate to the AIDS charity here.

I've been trying to find a new one to start now that Amara's here but I'm not sure what.

ETA: We watch The Polar Express every year.

I get Oliver a new Christmas ornament every year that has to do with something he likes or something to remember that year by. His first Christmas was a "Baby's 1st Christmas ornament, 2nd was a cloth diaper ornement, 3rd is a blowdryer since he loves to blowdry his hair.

We bake cookies, listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies, visit Santa and get pictures, read Christmas books, check out a local Christmas light display and the lights in our subdivision, and he gets a gift on Christmas Eve. This year it's the Polar Express book. I might do a book for his gift every Christmas Eve. We pick out a real tree as a family the weekend of Thanksgiving. We have a huge PBK Advent Christmas Calendar that I put chocolate in. He also has a little chocolate count down one from the store.

I was going to do the Elf of a Shelf thing but when I showed it to him in a store he was scared of it.

I hope to come up with more in the years to come.

Well I use to manage a Hallmark so I'm a BIG ornament buff . All three of us get a new one each year. They have one particular bird ornament collection that has 12 in the series. They debuted in 2002, and I bought the new one every year for my grandmother (Henry's name sake) and she just loved them. She passed away in 2008. I was "gifted" back her ornaments and I still get the new one every year. Makes me happy to see them put on the tree every year and I can't wait to tell Henry all about her.

Every Black Friday (cause I can get them pretty cheap), I buy for Toys for Tots. And we donate to the Disabled Veterans.

Since I was a kid, we've made homemade doughnuts for Christmas breakfast. Ed and I kept doing it when we moved in together. I'm looking forward to when Henry can help make them too.

I'm THE baker in my family and I spent days making cookies. Then I hand them out in Christmas tins. After they finish eating them, most return the tins so I can fill them up next year!

We visit my aunt's house on Christmas eve after church. We eat chicken salad sandwiches and drink hot cider.

We also go to this local farm that has amazing light displays. They also have real reindeer to pet. Best of all, it's free!

Chris and I have a few.

We buy a new Christmas ornament every year to add to our tree. The first couple of years were boring, last year was a big engagement ring, this year was penguins, next year will be a wedding couple, etc.

We watch Christmas Vacation about a million times.

When we have kids, we plan on getting them an ornament every year like we do for us, and also a new pair of pjs that they will open every Christmas eve.
