I have started to slowly give Bella some solids. If its soft and easy, Ill give her a TIIINY little bit. Only problem is, everything Ive given her (no fish or anything that would normally hurt a 6 month old) has given her diarrhea so acidic to the point that its burning her bum I had given her a few sweet potato flavored puffs the other night, and she was really into thoes, but the next day came this horrid diarrhea that burned her bum, so I didnt give her any the next day. It some what cleared up. I tried giving her a few yesterday, and today the diarrhea is back. So no more cereal puffs Im really scared shes allergic to wheat and has celiac Going in on monday to get her 6 month check up, and I will ask her pedi then. My other 2 have never had this issue - praying like mad she doesnt have celiac!! Keep your fingers crossed for us - because if she does, ALL of us are going gluten free....oh joy...

ETA: Shes eaten rice and oatmeal cereal but she hasent eaten enough to have her system react to it...so I cant say for sure that regular cereal is fine....

I hope she doesn't have celiac! Maybe she just needs a little more time on milk only?

Does your hubby have some sort of dietary issue? I seem to remember something...

May be something in the puffs. I would just try her on homemade foods (avocado, banana, squash, etc.) for a bit and see.

Yep, he was diagnosed with a milder celiac back in his early teens. Still has somewhat of a reaction to it, but not diarrhea like this. this is a sign of true celiac.

Mari, I will!! I will start her on a gluten free diet, and see if she reacts to anything else. She could just need more time...shes perfectly fine on formula, although showing signs of frustration when we eat, shes watching us with an evil eye LOL she knows what food is, she likes little snips we give her, its just all giving her diarrhea

ETA: I agree, it could be something in the puffs. Those are now off our solids list FOR SURE!! Poor Bella baby

it could just be a mild intolerance too. Brayden couldn't have oatmeal for the longest time. Did you give her any formula at all? Some formulas have gluten in them if I'm not mistaken so you could potentially rule that out that way.

Don't even get me started on the foods J.J can;t have -- we too are wondering if he has celiac. We are gonna try him on gluten free for 2 weeks and see if we notice and improvement.

I would go with the homemade stuff for now -- smashed organic banana's, avacodos if you can get them at a good price, etc

are you doing full gluten free, or just avoiding breads, pasta's, etc? hubby cant have white vinegar (but distilled white vinegar he can) Vanillian is another one that catches him once in a while...well..more often than not. Stupid little ingredients you have to look out for LOL!

Missy, shes on formula - but gets tummy achs from the target brand. Similac and walmart brand is fine (albertsons must use the same brand as walmart cuz shes fine with that one too)

We are gonna attempt full gluten free. The reason we suspect celiac is because he can have certain types of wheat, but other types cause him such gastrointestinal upset. There are certain pasta's he can have but others, its a disaster! It's gonna be rough cause he loves bread and pasta. But, i think it's gonna be the only way to find out without doing the invasive upper endoscopy.

I hope she is not but you never know. I'd start with the babyfood basics too and see if that helps. Hopefully it's something else in the puffs that is upsetting her GI.

I'm going to attempt to go gluten free after the new year. I want to see if it improves mine and Oliver's health at all. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it but I want to try. It's such a big life change. It would be hard to go out to eat and enjoy a lot of the foods I love.
