I got a new car yesterday!!! (Well I pick it up Tuesday)

A 2011 Honda Civic (In atomic blue!)

My car has been on the brink of death since the end of August, and well, Saturday it just died a graceful death for good. I had J.J in the car with me (fear!) and my car started making this horrible noise, then saw smoke, smelled burning rubber, and my car made this horrible grinding noise. I pulled it into the middle of the road (a turning lane) and called DH. DH came and pushed me home (was not far from home at all) a cop and 2 very nice Mexican's helped as well. My BIL looked at the car and fixed it.

Or so I thought.

I went to get in my car Sunday and the oil light was on (also known as the "dummy light" -- because when it comes on it means HEY DUMMY YOUR CAR IS DONE). I decided that was it, I was done with the car (BIL had just put over 18 hours of work into the car the last 2 months -- parts costs us 500 dollars -- had we had to take it to a mechanic it would have been over 2500 i dumped into the car the last few months). DH gave me a hard time about it and wanted me to CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR or he would drive it WITH J.J in the car HIMSELF!

So, I put my foot down and said absolutely not! Went out and leased a car a few hours later.

DH insisted on getting my "old" car diagnosed this morning -- 2000+ in labor and parts -- my engine is getting ZERO oil. Need lots of parts and 15-18 hours in labor.

Then he tells me "Umm..well... I am glad we got you a new car...."

YOU THINK?!?!?

So while my new car is a happy purchase for me, I am upset that DH thought that money was more important then my or J.J's safety. The fact that he wanted to drive THAT with J.J in the car this morning baffles me. That car would have caught fire! With J.J in it! Not cool at all.

But I got a new car and it is 120% safe for me and J.J .

Im SO glad you guys got a new car!!! Ive been worried about you guys since the first problem with the lights coming on Ive been in sticky sittuations with the Jeep, and once I traded in that sucker for my AWESOME mommy van, it felt like 1000lbs of weight was lifted off my shoulder! the only problem Ive had so far was my signle light went out, and the stock battery finally died 4 years later LOL!! I LOVE my van!! So happy for you!!

Nissan. Was 10 year old car, but had low mileage.

I should have never fixed what was causing the check engine light
