So I'm trying to pick out a double stroller for our registry and the closest BabiesRUs is like an hr away, which makes it difficult to get to play with them.

I think the ones with the seat in front of the other will work best for us. I have a RAV4 so it's okay if it's a tad bulky to store. But I was hoping to get something simple and sturdy to use for shopping. We have a cross between an umbrella and a large one that we use all the time, and hardly use the large one that was given to us. The stroller I love is Chicco brand, it's been very durable. And I also have had great luck with Graco products. I'm not too concerned about what car seat will fit in it.

I may end up just buying a used stroller at our local consignment sale in March. But I figured I should register for one in case someone wants to get it.

I just wanted to add.. I don't own a double stroller.. But I do have a Chicco key fit car seat (the one that goes up to 22 lbs) and a Graco stroller (when my daughter was a baby).. The car seat barely fits in the stroller and does not lock.. I barely used the stroller because I was always afraid it would fall out.. I just wore my son when I went shopping with both kids..

I would try to test them out if you can..

A woman in my DDC has and highly recommends the Baby Jogger City Select. When I was in Raleigh a few months ago I saw a mom with one and asked her how she liked it, she said she LOVED it. She let me use it a bit and while it was nice, I thought it was pretty darn heavy and hard to fold for a $500 stroller.

Since then I've played with the Baby Jogger City Mini Double and have been really impressed. I know you said you are looking for a tandem stroller but this thing fits through all regular-sized doors (36") and is soooo much lighter and easier to maneuver. It also folds like a dream and takes up less space in the car.

Everyone I have recently talked to recommends this one: Sit 'n Stand Elite Stroller - One Step Ahead Baby

Its need because its cheap, you can do 1 seat/1 stand, 2 seats, or 1 seat/1 carseat. I've only heard good things about it.

A mom in my subdivision has a Phil and Teds stroller and it looks really nice. I heard good things about them.

I hardly ever use Oliver's strollers. Am I the only one? I don't think I'd get a double if I was pregnant now. I do have the queen b bumbleride that I can add a toddler seat to and make into a double if ever needed but it's heavy and not good indoors.

I loved the kolcraft contours for being able to move the carseat in/out of the stroller without having to unstrap baby. Now I have a BOB double jogger, and LOVE it. My SIL loves her citi mini that Kate was talking about.

We have a Buy Buy Baby so I have tried out all of them

TBH I LOVE my Bumbleride Indie Twin, it's freakin awesome. It fits through regular doors, I've used it out and about and around in the mall with no prob. It has an attachment to hold a newborn carseat and you can put the toddler on the other side. It folds up fairly small for a double stroller! Turns on a DIME with ONE hand! You can also put the front wheels in the fixed position if you are so inclined to jog

This is the one I have, except I paid like $440 for it, there was some deal plus coupon code.
Amazon.com: Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller - Seagrass: Baby

Phil and Ted- sucktacular. No kid wants to ride in the bottom part, Phineas FREAKED out when I tried to put him in there. Not that good of a ride, harder to maneuver than my Bumbleride, plus my legs hit the bottom of the stroller every time I try to walk. Hated it. And I was all ready to buy it online before I saw in the store!

Sit n Stand- HATED IT. I owned one, sold it. That thing is so freakin long you're always crashing into stuff. Plus the older kid can get out of the big seat part really easily so before you know it you've got an escapee!

Kolcraft option contour thingie- Tried it out in store, HATED IT! Too heavy, frickin huge, too long, same problem as sit n stand as far as crashing goes. Dumb. Would not buy.

City Mini- pretty good, my feet/shins also hit on this one though.

BoB Revloution Dualie- Good.

Baby Jogger Citi select thingy- Yeah it's too heavy and not as easily maneuverable as I would expect for that price.

Haha I just had to check if my dang stroller was compatible with our snugride! It is thank goodness, I almost hyperventilated!

I ditto the Bumbleride Indie Twin. It isn't tandem, but you can use it for everything and you will not need to upgrade to a side by side in the future. It folds very easily, is lightweight and moves incredibly well.

It is pricey..but you can find decent deals on year end models-we got ours on craigslist and it had only been used a handful of times.
