Has anyone ever used this brand? Ive been feeding Bella strictly organic baby food (earths best) And this is WIC's "natural baby food " substitute. With bella's sensitive tummy, shes been doing awesome on earths best, and everytime I give her something else, she gets diarrhea. I just can not believe WIC wont allow organic! They do for their fruit and veggie checks they give out, and their farmers market checks. Why wouldnt they allow organic baby food too? Just blows my mind! We only put Bella on WIC for the formula help, but I feel bad for wasting all this food they are giving me...I wonder if they would allow me to donate the food to a shelter or something?

Have you considered buying it on Amazon instead? You can sign up for a free "Amazon Mom" membership and you always get free 2 day shipping. Then if you go to the product page for their formula (this works with diapers too) it's already cheaper than in the stores, and you can "subscribe" to get a shipment once a month and you get an extra 30% off!!

I made most of Oliver's food but did buy Earth's Best for a few things like prunes and the mango pear. I never heard of the other brand but I'd donate it or can you just refuse to take it? Or do you have to take it all? Why not make your own organic babyfood? It's easy and cheaper than buying the jars? Or does the homeade stuff upset her tummy too?

I guess I'd just donate it if they won't let you get the organic.

OH and I use the Amazon mom thing for diapers (he wears disposables overnight and at mom's day out) and it's great! Winds up cheaper than buying them in the stories so I bet the baby food is the same.

I made some of Matthew's food homemade but used some jarred food when I ran low/didn't have time.

we were buying the jar's because we hadn't bought anything organic yet for her to eat from our plates. But today we went shopping and I have tons of organic fruits and veggies to make food for her, as well as food for us, so I can start giving her whats on my plate. If its not organic, Im finding out, she gets diarrhea from. I got these cool new pouches of baby food called sprout food. Its in a resealable pouch. Its kinda cool, plus they were cheap lol

no, I knew what you ment

ETA: No, Resi, I dont have to get the food on the checks, I can decline anything they give me. But the fact of the matter is, its there, and I know I wont use it, why not donate it? I think I might do that!

Dang I didnt' think WIC checks were different across the country since its fed. govrn't funded. Our WIC will not allow any organic products it even flags the registers for them (from the $6 checks the kids get a month or even the baby food jars). They say its too expensive to do that and you get more by going non organic. $6 would get like 2 banana's

And yes you can donate it to food shelters/food banks even sometimes WIC takes them back(rarely but sometimes) you just can't sell it. I donated more then 180 jars of baby food since Kieran never ate it.

Yup, it varies by state - weird hu? Here in oregon, the $6 and $10 checks you can get organic. And most banana's around here, for organic, are not much more than regular. we just paid 89 cents for our organic banana's (at whole foods too! But I didnt use the WIC checks and I dont think whole foods does WIC?) Sometimes at fred meyers, Ive found them for 59 cents for organic! you just have to shop around.

Ya we don't have a whole foods here, and I rarely go to Fred Meyer cause they are generally more expensive then Wallyworld Only two of the local stores (Super 1 Foods & Trading Company) have an organic section and they are spendy. I'm used to paying $0.33-.55 per pound of banana's. I want to go to the farmers markets this summer though (but our wic checks are only good at normal grocery stores)

Ask your WIC person if they are doing the farmers market checks this year for your county! They are WONDERFUL! I love getting in season fresh fruit! Like today at whole foods, I saw raspberries that smelled sooo goood, but for $5 for a TINY container full (they are NOT in season LOL) I had laughed and made a comment and the whole foods produce lady started laughing and totally agree'd with me LOL

Do you have a Winco near you at all??

Man all this WIC stuff confuses me, here we just get a monthly "allowance" for each kid, it's just a cheque so it can go to anything. Hope you get it all figured out. I'd think making your own would be a wonderful option if you have the time and energy
