Well, we are getting what we want, and that's to know what and how much food J.J is eating.

We asked the director to step in to the meeting because well, she needed to be there. I was already aggravated that this meeting had to take place and then when the head teacher didn't show till 9:10, I was even more angry. Then I was fuming when the supervisor of the infant/toddlers/executive director called in sick.

Once we presented them with the notes from the doctors (i had one from his pediatrician, which also notes J.J's poor weight gain and his allergist -- both which stated -- provide the parents with his nutritional intake daily) they STILL were fighting with us saying how much easier it will be for them for us to call them, or to pick food up off the floor and send it home. NO NO NO!

We ever so politely, but angerly, told them we don't want dirty food from the floor (which the head teacher tried DENYING that my sons throws food on the floor! We were just told Monday he threw breakfast on the floor! WTH!) we just want the paper. We don't have time to make phone calls in the middle of the day, 3 times a day, either. We need the paper so that if he has a reaction, we can look over it and say well, it was not that because he did not eat it, or, it was not that because he only had a 1/4 of it. Then they were like, Oh you mean you keep a record of what he eats?

A DUH!!! My child has allergies! And is not gaining weight! Of COURSE i keep a record of what he eats!

Anyway, we are getting what we want again. So thats good. It should not have even had to come to a meeting. A doctors note should have been good enough. I was about to go ape schit on the director when she was like "Well we have never provided forms for the parents.." MAYBE YOU OUGHT TO CHANGE YOUR POLICY LADY. EVERY OTHER DAY CARE DOES IT. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY WHO DON'T. STOP BEING LAZY AND FRIGGIN' DO IT.

I don't understand why it was SO hard to get this. We've explained to them about J.J's allergies -- NUMEROUS times. Heck we had a conference 2 months ago with the head teacher explaining EVERYTHING. We've explained to them -- He has not gained more then a pound in 8 months and his doctors are concerned. They still DID NOT GET IT!

I told the head teacher she should think of a career change if she can not or is not willing to work with a child who has special needs. It's not that J.J is a "real" special needs kid, but you know what I mean. DH told her she needs to learn to communicate better. All she said was "Interesting". I could tell we upset her (GOOD) because she was shaking. GOOD. I will ALWAYS do what is in the best interest of my child END OF STORY.

So, thats that.

Now, if i can have a good outcome with the psychology department (see private area for that story) i'll be doing good!

I'm sorry that it needed to come to this because as you rightly stated, it should have been a non-issue. I am happy that in the end, they will complete the paper and I hope you don't have any more issues with it.

Now, to check out the private area.

Glad you got your way! It should have never been an issue. Her head would spin if she saw all the data and paperwork I do on just one child during my day at work. And tell her it could be worse, I have to fill out a bowel chart, you know, how many BM's, how big, was it hard, soft, diahrrea, etc And I have to check every BM, so, writing down how much food sounds very easy to me! We used to do that for 9 kids anyway! She is being nasty to you, that's all. Especially because it's a medical issue, not just a controlling, I like to know what my kid eats, thing. Although, we've done those too where I work and we don't give the parents a problem.

I don't know what the NY regulations are, but here we are required by state regulations to record all the food intake (what was offered and how much was eaten/refused), and every diaper check (which occur every 45 minutes) with results. It would only take an extra 30 seconds out of my day to simply make a photocopy of the log to send home with the parents. I'd be tempted to report their ***** to the state regulators if they're not following proper procedures.

Don't you just love people who make up bull s*** rules for no reason and then stick to them until their face is blue? Apparently common sense is something that these people lack. I'm glad you got them to give in, but geeze....

The thing that sucks about NY -- is we don't have rules about record keeping about diapers, naps, foods, etc. They have a sheet hanging up which records bathrooming and napping, and will only record food up till 12 months. I think its a stupid rule and when we said you know, maybe other parents would like this information too we were basically told "we've never done it that way". Well, maybe its time for a change. Stop being money hungry and greedy and do some good.

We know J.J loves it there. It is the only reason he is still there. And the other staff is great and he loves them and they love him (one girl keeps a notebook for us of the things J.J says daily that shes never heard him say.. how nice!)

We are getting an Au Pair when we move in 11 months. Absolutely 110% getting one.

Grrrr that made my blood boil! Parent's word should be what they go by, end of story. You shouldn't have had to have a doctor's note to get this information! If possible I would look into another daycare. That is B.S. Do they WANT your business? They are in the business of caring for children, they should give a crap enough to meet J.J.'s basic needs. They act like they are the only daycare on the planet. If it is anything like where I live, there are tons of them, so it would be very easy to jump ship if they aren't meeting Charlotte's needs.

If they aren't meeting this basic need, it is scary to think of what else they may not be doing that they should, you know? The simple fact that it was such a battle is a red flag to me.
