Bella is really good about putting her bottle in her mouth, and can grab onto objects and bring them to her mouth. Shes not picking up food yet on her own though. She's not crawling yet, and ALMOST sitting up on her own. When do you think I should start her on the sippy cup?

I introduced it to J.J at 6 months just to see what it was like. He was ok with it but did not start using it till maybe 10-11 months. He uses it like a pro now but wont take milk out of it.

Why not let her play around with one? I didn't give one to Oliver until he was maybe around 9-10 months. I guess I wasn't thinking about it because he always breastfed and only had a bottle of pumped milk with my mom or DH. He never used a sippy and went straight to a cup when before he was one year old. The two kids I watch started with one at 1 years old. I think it's a good idea to start earlier so maybe by 1 yrs old she will be able to drop the bottle and be on the sippy only.

we skipped the sippy cup here also. He has a straw cup instead which he used great about 9-10 months-ish. I let him play with a regular cup about 4-6 months...he copied us pretty well when empty.

We always start around 6 months. Lila is a pro with both sippy cups and straw cups now. She also uses a regular cup if I'm drinking something she can have, we share. There can't be much in the regular cup though or she'll make a big mess.

Well that eases my mind a bit lol She likes to drink out of her bath cup when taking a bath (the water comes from the faucet so no shes not drinking the bath water LOL!!!) My older 2 were off of bottles at about 10 months old, so I have a feeling it will be the same for her as well. thanks ladies

Haha! Lila will sometimes drink the bathwater too. And she eats the bubbles.

Seeing she's 7 months, I think you can try her with it.

I tried the sippy but all he did was slam it around and make it leak everywhere. So I started leaving out a straw sippy for him with a little breast milk in it and he would play with it and then one day - BAM he was just drinking out of it. So now I give him a sippy with water in it that he can drink throughout the day. It's not a lot, maybe 4 ounces. I'm so lucky he will do the straw sippy!!!

Heather, my other 2 picked up on straw sippy's muuuuuch faster than the regular ones. Once they could do the straw's it like clicked in their mind's and could drink out of the regular ones. Weird how that works. I will go out and get a cup for her today
