And it was SO fun!! The backup doula does the second meeting so that you get a chance to get to know her just in case she attends the birth. and she was SO SO nice, i had only met her for a few minutes before so it was great to get to talk to her for like 2 hrs.

She brought a little 8 lb lifesize newborn dolly and we got to practice holding it and breastfeeding it and we talked all about what could be wrong if she was crying and what things are normal in a newborn. i really wanted dh to hear all about this stuff, i knew most of it from when my nephew was born, but i just wanted him to have that info so he could be really confident. she also brought little knitted demo booby & vagina things. so that was pretty funny (yet informative!). she also told dh all the things that he can/should be helping with after baby comes, so i was happy that he knows whats expected of him now, kwim? so i won't feel like i'm nagging him if i ask him to get me a pillow or some food or whatever...i get paranoid that i'll become a nagging wife.

chile loved the little dolly and wanted to hang out with it lol she really does love newborns this dog. its so cute. toddlers, not so much lol
this doula was around my age & said she really enjoyed birthing so that was good for us to hear as well. she says the tub will fit in my place no prob and i'll probably get it from her next week.

That's awesome!! I am so excited for you.

Did she talk about the signs of PPD? Our midwife spoke to DH and I about it and it was very useful. I knew about it but sometimes men don't and they don't really get it unless a professional tells them. Our midwife had told us about a lo of cases where the men had told the wives that it was all in their head, etc so I think that's something that also important to talk about.

yep she did mention PPD, so he knows what to look for. i think my midwives will be going over it too next week.
