The drywall is gonna be done THIS WEEK! And lemme tell ya I have the BEST family EVER! My step dad had originally said he'd do all the work for plumbing, electrical and the drywall. Well....he was sick for the plumbing, changed his mind on the wiring when I said I didn't want any corners cut to save money (duh) (+6000 dollars) then he was sick and couldn't do the plumbing (+2000 dollars) Then he said he'd do the drywall but was worried about finishing the ceilings so I had to get a drywall guy in (+4000 dollars) and I had to take 3000 out of my savings to get my car (+3000 dollars) So that put me 16000 over my budget. I managed to cut out things here and there and got my budget to 6000 over only. My mom and my 2 aunts are going to give it to me to finish the house with out cutting out anything else! My mom feels responsible since it was my step dad's fault.

i feel your excitement, we are just waiting on having our counter tops cut and installed and then our handyman can come put on the finishing touches (hook up sink, tile backsplash, frame a window, etc)

The money! My step dad was supposed to do a LOT of the labor (plumbing, drywall, electrical, trim, excavating, lot clearing, etc.....) And I had nearly 4k in my savings I was going to invest as well. Well.....I totaled my car so that 4k went on my new one, then his heart acted up and his chainsaw messed up so I had to pay out over 3k to get the lot cleared (7k gone now) Then he got sick and couldn't do the plumbing (2-3k now, 10k down total) and then the wiring (5k over so now we're at 15k over budget) Then his back so now no drywall (5-6k over, 21k over budget now) Add to that the fact I thought the insulation and trim were all included in the materials only to find out they weren't (5200 over, now 26k over budget) I was screwed. I had over-budgeted on everything just like I was told to do....but noone really budgets for 25% over.....they tell you to budget for 8-10% over. So....I am lacking about 12k to finish it with out cutting out anything like premium trim, big front porch, small side deck and back deck. I could cut out the two decks and save about 4 or 5k, and cut out the trim and do something cheaper and save 1500 and only need about 5-6k to finish it, not bad when his illnesses caused a 26k budget problem! I do have 2k back in savings now so I'll be using all that, then just rebuilding it again.

Yeah I have some of the unfinished drywall, I've just not uploaded them yet. And they are actually giving me 15k since the porches I want are gonna cost me 9600! I was more than a bit shocked at that number!

It is really nice and my mom and aunt are already choosing their bedrooms for when they get older and planning on installing a seat on the stairs so they can just zoom up them LOL!
