16 yr female patient presents with severe pain in her upper right quadrant....what do you do? A few days ago I was telling them they needed an ultrasound to check of gallbladder issues (stones, infection etc.....) What did immediate care (in the ER) do? Sent her home and told her to take advil. So at 4am this morning my ex sister in law was taking my niece BACK to the ER for guess what.....severe pain in her upper ride side. Gallstones and an infected gallbladder. Her mom had the same thing a few years ago, she was tender to touch, HELLLLO?! I'm more than a bit miffed that even when questioned they SENT HER HOME with no test, not even an x-ray. I mean....an x-ray isn't much but at least it would have shown they were half way attempted to locate a problem, ya know. Yes gallstone pain initially comes and goes. When there is no stone blocking the way, there's not an issue with pain (or it could be deferred pain as I've encountered before) but regardless.....it's not ALWAYS there, like a kidney stone! 5 people, 4 with no post high school education, said this when 1 dr didn't even think of it?! I think that dr needs to go back to school and major in something like....art....or theater....or something non medical!
Anyway, please pray for my niece, she's set to have surgery now to remove aforementioned gallbladder. I'll be leaving shortly to go down there.
I should also mention, they are lucky AF decided to show today.....me + hormonal issues would not equal a good day for the dr who saw her that night.
