Hello everyone!
Baby Julien was born on March 9, at 11:56, exactly 26 minutes after we got to the hospital We just got home earlier today and I'll admit I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed (he's super cute, but he cries a lot ) so I'm going to make this quick and try to add pics when I can.
I started feeling contractions at 9 am (I had lost my mucus plug a few hours earlier), but it was all in my back and I wasn't sure it was really contractions. At 10 I called the hospital, but they didn't seem to think I should go in yet so they told me to take a bath and lie of my left side for 30-60 min. I called Chris at work and told him to come home. I took a bath for 20 min. and then the pain became really unbearable. I tried timing the contractions, but I couldn't, it just hurt all.the.time!
Chris got home at 10:30 and I told him I really thought we needed to go. We called the hospital again and said we were coming, I couldn't even get to the phone to talk to the nurse, it hurt so bad. And I was feeling pressure in the rectal area. At 11:10 we were in the car. When we were a block from the hospital I told Chris there was no way I could do it without an epidural. Turns out, I didn't have time to get one
I got to the hospital, went to the birthing centre and was checked almost immediately. I was 10 cm dilated and ready to push!!! The doc couldn't believe it! I told Chris I was capable of waiting for him to run out and park the car and come back so he did. When he got back, I started to push. I pushed through three contractions and Julien was born!
I still can't believe how crazy fast it all went!
Baby was 3160 grams and 51 centimeters. I'll try and convert to pounds and inches later. And I promise pics as soon as I can!

Wow - sounds exactly like my birth story - less than 3 hours and ready to push as soon as you arrived at the hospital! Good job
Yep, first few weeks are pretty overwhelming. Just take advantage of any help you have around you. I don't think I cooked, cleaned or did any washing etc for the first month!
Can't wait to see the pictures! Congrats on your little man.

Wow! That was a fast labor! I bet it wasn't easy. I had one with Alissa and I'd rather have a longer one, most don't realize the short labors are super intense and you get contractions on top of each other so you get no time to rest.

What a crazy fast birth!!! Yes, most people don't realize the short labors are the most intense...my active labor with Nolan was only about 4 hours and I had contraction on top of contraction as well. And they share the same birthday!
Enjoy the first few weeks...it goes fast and is so overwhelming but before you know it they don't look so itty bitty anymore!!

It was really really really intense and painful, but I'm glad it happened that way. If there's ever a #2, I hope my labor experience will be the same!

I'm late on this but my goodness, what a birth story! I can't believe you waited to push while hubby parked the car. Huge congrats to you, I'm really, really happy for you.
