You've just found out that company is coming over in 10 minutes! What do you do to get your house ready? (I'm talking about in-laws and preachers type company, none of the free loving who cares type company!!)

I try to keep my house clean enough that it shouldn't take too long to get 'company ready'. I say try because it doesn't happen as often as it should. On the off chance that I have unexpected people come over I can usually keep them in the entryroom, which I make sure is always clean. If I have a little more time then I'll grab a laundry basket and throw all of Madi's toys into it and then put it on her bed. Close the door to the office, my room, and Madi's room and Viola! Everything looks cleaner. If I have more time I'll wipe down my kitchen counters and put any dirty dishes in the dishwasher, on the off chance its full of clean dishes than in the sink. And finally I'll do a quick wipe down of the guest bathroom. Its usually pretty clean too, however Madi is potty training (I know, its taking FOREVER!) and the toilet is always in need of a quick clean.

I'd be screwed. If I only had a few minutes the best I could do is take a basket and throw everything into it - toys, mail, papers, etc. and sort it out later. Odds are dishes wouldn't be done and I'd either leave it or throw everything in the oven/dishwasher/wherever there was room.

Luckily we don't get surprise company.
