Okay ladies....here it is. I'll try to make it as short and sweet as possible =)

I went to bed around midnight on Saturday night, then got up to pee at 1:00am and my water broke

So I woke up DH, called Grandma to come stay with DS, and off we went. I wanted to get there ASAP as my labor with DS went so quick.
When I arrived my contrax were 2mins apart, they hooked me up to the monitors and waited for an OB to come check me (my Dr wasn't on call that night). I was checked at around 2:30am and was at 4cm. Baby was still high at this point. They were aware of how fast my son came so prepared the room for delivery.
Two hours had passed and the OB came to check me again....no change. They were concerned that baby was still so high. Told me she wasn't engaged in pelvis and still "floating" but she was head down. Told me to hang tight and see what happens. By around 9:00am my contrax had become less intense and had slowed down to about 4-5mins apart. At this point they decided it would be best to have a shower, recharge & take advantage of the down time. By around 12:00pm contrax had become pretty intense, I was begining to feel more pressure and they were back up to about 2mins apart. I was hoping for progress. Was disappointed to learn that I was only at 5cm so very little change. They decided I should spend some time on the birthing ball to see if it would help bring her down. Still no change at 3:00 so they decided that I needed to be induced. Said that stronger contrax caused by Pitocin would help bring her down. By this time I was tired, cranky, and in quite a bit of pain so asked for an epi =( I was hoping for another natural birth but as we know things don't always go as planned. Epi was administered and Pitocin was started at about 4:30.
Once I had the epi my contrax pretty much stopped?!!? They kept increasing the pitocin trying to get things going again. I spent about 3 hours just "waiting". At 8:30pm c-section was mentioned, I was so upset. But they said if she didn't come down soon that would be our only option. At around 9:30 I was checked for one last time......I was fully dialated but her head still wasn't engaged

Then in a matter of minutes after I was checked things became incredibly painful, tremendous pressure. Her heartrate was between 120-150 all day and all of a sudden it dropped to the 50-60's

then in minutes jumped to 195

From here on things were caotic. She had moved into position but something wasn't right. They said I needed to get on all fours so they could try to find out why she was stressed. Ahhhh....did they forget I had an epi and couldn't even feel my legs?!!? I managed to get flipped over and up on fours. Her h/b stabilized....so they flipped me back over and said we needed to get her out ASAP.
I pushed through 2 contrax (3pushes with each). I was able to push her head out with the next contraction

That's when they realized the cord was wrapped a few times around her neck...which is why she wouldn't get into position!! All made sense now. Very scary though. It was so refreshing to hear her cry. The NICU unit was on hand and checked her over. She was perfectly healthy
My placenta was delivered fairly quickly. They couldn't get me to stop bleeding. My uterus wasn't co-operating. Before I new it I was getting a shot in my thigh, something pumped through my iv, an oral pill, and also pills inserted in my butt (sorry TMI) to try and help the bleeding. I started to panic, and the resident mentioned a histarectomy (sp??). But within about 35mins they were able to stop the bleeding. Thank goodness!! I ended up with a 2nd degree tear and a few stitches.
At the time it was quite scary but we are both doing wonderful. Nursing is going great, and the only discomfort I'm having is the after pains while she's nursing. So that's my story. Hope you enjoyed reading it. It's a little on the long side

But then again I had a long day!!
